Has Wlad ever spoken of his admiration for Ruiz?

The object of the sport is to make the opponent fight your fight, not the other way around. Archie Moore, a well respected fighter and trainer, used to say, " hit 'em and tie 'em up before they can hit you back ". A few people think the Ol' Mongoose may have known what he was talking about.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Ruiz deserves all the criticism he gets - and more. He cheats his opponents of their opportunity to win WITHIN the rules, and cheats the fans of the boxing matches they PAID to see. The only reason he went to Germany is that HBO - and the fans - got sick of his bull**** and wouldn't pay for his fights anymore. And if he loses some close nods - hell, when King was pulling the strings in the U.S. he got more than his share of gifts.

The difference between Wlad and Ruiz is TALENT. Wlad uses holding strategically to SUPPLEMENT actual boxing ability. Ruiz uses it to make up for the utter lack of any LEGITIMATE skill.

Good point. Its noticeable how the two most successful heavies of this era have such similar styles.

Ruiz is a garbage fighter who should have been disqualified in most of his fights. Wladimir, on the other hand, is a world-class fighter and a credit to the sport. If you like John Ruiz it is purely out of some desire to stand apart from the crowd. He brings absolutely no entertainment value to the table both in and out of the ring. He has nothing to offer boxing other than horrible fights and legal action.

    Does hate make you stupid?

Or does stupidity make you hate?

Either way this thread is another example of ESB at it's worst. Ah well, another attention-whoring troll to add to my ignore list.

Wlad and Ruiz both are excessive clinchers, however Wlad is alot better boxer. I dont really blame Wlad for clinching, if he didn't, his glass chin would of been exposed alot more times than it already has.

Wlad's offensive arsenal is alot more dangerous than Ruiz', I can't remember the last time Ruiz knocked someone out or even clearly dominated his oppenent in the ring. Wlad's size does help him dictate fights behind the jab, but he's clearly the more skilled fighter between the two of them.

if ruiz was as big as wlad he would easily beat/hug wlad to a victory.. Now that would be a nice 36 minutes big HUG.

again , all you say is possible for wlad only because that size advantage.
believe me - if someone blew ruiz to 6'6" he'd be just the same , very possibly better. without that chin problem.
if someone shrinked wlad to ruiz' size however ... ruiz has 1 stoppage loss , wlad at 6'6" has 3. so wlad at 6'2" - he wouldn't have stopped even that injured brester he did. he wouldn't have lasted sam peter.
for sure he'd lost to ibragimov ,davarryl willamson . i think byrd , barrett and axel schulz would have beaten him also.
p4p actually - we see that ruiz is better. and that's the ruiz who lost to toney and jones.
wlad top 20 p4p - someone needs to check those p4p ranking method.

Really? How so? Wlad has an ATG jab, murderous punching power in both hands and he generally fights from the outside. Ruiz has an average jab at best, average right hand power & he prefers to fight on the inside.

Game, set, match. Thanks for playing...............:good
