You don't have to convince me on how bad Wlad's chin is, I'm one of his biggest haters on this site, as most would tell you. That being said, Wlad's size does help him. I just don't see Ruiz being anything special with 4 more inches in height. He's not a good puncher, can't sustain a consistent offense, and his chin is nothing special, though alot better than Wlad's glass shield. It's hard for me to argue in favor of Wlad, because it's rare when I do. I just feel with the help of Steward, he's become a A class fighter. The only negative, aside from his glass chin, is the fact he can't fight on the inside to save his life. Though on the outside he's nearly unbeatable, his jab is one of the best I ever seen at heavyweight.
True. Ali clinched, held & hit & wrapped his glove around the back of the neck. I don't hear these same fools complaining about that though...............
Sure, it's all about his height. :-( The speed, footwork & ring generalship don't come into play in your little world I suppose.
If it was as simple as a size advantage then why aren't fighters like Timo Hoffman and Kevin McBride dominating?
Valuev is WBA champ of the world, he's pretty well accomplished in my book. Kali Meehan nearly beat Brewster back in the summer of 04, it was Brewster's next fight back after dismantling Wlad to get the title.
Both points are correct but I never said it didn't help to be big. Another poster here claimed size was all Wlad has................clearly that isn't the case.
I could just as easily argue that Rahman totally outclassed Meehan & Valuev has gotten a few recent gift decisions................... ...................and Valuev IS NOT the WBA Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir is. Klitschko beat Chagaev, who beat Valuev. How's that for showing the ABC's how little their trinkets mean at this point?
