I am hearing that Manny will be awarded WBC diamond belt if he beat Cotto. What is this diamond belt and because Andre Berto is the WBC champion will the winner of Manny and Cotto then challenge him?
I doubt Berto will get the winner. Maybe Cotto if Cotto wants to unify because he's a legit welterweight not Pacquiao. The diamond belt is being awarded as a catch weight title I guess. Berto is the WBC welterweight champion.
But maybe Berto will be jealous that they have the diamond belt and he will actually wants to fight the winner immediately?
Theres no sanctioning fee for this belt. It is basically a newly made up belt that they are giving away. I think it was Dan Rafael who said something along the lines of ..."The WBC is not charging a sanctioning fee for this belt, but like a drug dealers offer....first one is for free!"
I think Berto has other plans in mind. I heard Berto started his pro career at 160 so I doubt he's trying to make 45 just for a catch weight title when he's in a position to do other things. I think Jealousy is the last thing on his mind.
sort of a plaque for pacman as the only boxer in the history of boxing to get 7 titles. maybe if somebody else will have the same achievement, they will give them a diamond belt as well.

In another thread some guy wrote this belt fits better in wrestling, i agree on that! its nothing but bling, there are way to many belts and beltholders already! There should only be one champ in each division.. and only one belt WBA, WBC, IBF and maybe WBO, all other federations are worthless!
It's a belt and an excuse to charge a large sanction fee for an otherwise non-title fight. The sanction bodies hate these catch weight non title fights because they don't make any cash. As simple as that. I saw a WBC belt on ebay recently for £600, the sanction fee will probably run into many thousands, do the maths.
Gotta give credit to the WBC, They're trying to get as much money as possible here. Seriously this Diamond belt is ridiculously stupid.
