as long as someone can make a weight , he mustn't try to try a higher one. that is what weight classes are for. it is meant to prevent mismatches and tragedies. fair play.
pavlik , like hopkins is no p4p great so he shouldn't try his luck with the winner of the super6 , it will be dangerous. maybe if he'll have dificulty making 160 , then and only then , catchweights below 168 , or maybe even moving to 168 , will be great. but not as long he can make 160. that's by definition the sign of 'too small for 168'.

GMAN BY BRUTAL KO, If Taylor who is not a big puncher could have Pavlik almost out what do you think someone who hits like McClellan would do?

This is a tough one to call if you sit down and think about the strengths and weaknesses. There was a thread on this a few months ago and I voted McClellan and still do. BUT it's tough to come up with a reason as Kelly hasn't showed a ton of vulnerabilites, even in his loss. He has below average movement and adaptability but his basics and technique are so sound that 99% of the time he makes up for it.

I see the usual G-Man blitz; by fight night he is ****ing HUGE and enters the ring around 175-180. Pavlik is the smaller man but still has heavy, heavy hands. G-Man does not want a prolonged fight and will go hard right off the bat. If it gets past 4 I see Pavlik in the fight, working behind a jab and wearing Gerald down. However, everytime I run the scenario I see two problems for Pavlik 1)Defensive movement isn't enough to avoid G-Man's bombs 2)He's a slow starter. Either way I see a McClellan blitz getting a 2nd or 3rd round knockout but I could be wrong

GMan easily. One of the baddest men on the planet in his hay. His story is just so sad, one of the many tragedies of the sport.

Don't bother actually looking at youtube HOW "fast" G-Man really was. Never let facts get in the way of a good rant ! :)

i think pavlik is being drastically underrated in this thread. even though i voted g-man i think that people are assuming kelly will get blasted like nothing. g-man did well because of his strength, size and yes, even a little speed. he was a physical beast with solid fundamentals BUT what if he doesn't get pavlik early?

Agreed. He's being under-rated on this whole forum. Before he beat Miranda, he was a bum waiting to be exposed. After he beat Taylor, he was a P4P top fighter who would run Hopkins over. After Hopkins beat him, he's a one-dimensional fraud who ran from serious competition his whole career and would get beaten by anyone with an ounce of boxing ability.

We'll just see what happens. In a year or two, people will probably be kissing his ass again.

haha, it's ridiculous. i mean in this instance, i think styles make the fight and as G-Man came in HUGE and knew how to use it to his advantage he could take Pavlik. But somehow after hopkins now pavlik is exposed and can't do ****, blah blah. he's got a few weaknesses, as he always did, but he's a world class fighter and far and away the best middle on the planet. he's earned some respect
