I would guess Tyson lost that night beacause of Mike Tyson,Buster Douglas was there at the right time but for example Tony Tucker could have done the job in Tokyo.Tyson was fairly messed up around then...........
Tyson vs McCall Sparring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYdZt1ZpXg0 I heard McCall knocked Tyson down in sparring before....but I wonder if the Iron chinned McCall ever got knocked down by Iron Mike.
McCall would have been told to go easy on Tyson in front of the crowd, if he didn't it would have caused all kinds of problems for Tyson's management, if Mike looked bad.
Tyson did have a lot of issue back before that fight....but still even a focused Tyson would have problems that night cause Buster fought to the best of his abilities and had all the tools to beat Tyson, but some thought lacked the heart and dedication to be a champion....well for one night he was everything he could of been, and its just too bad he could not of done that for his whole career cause we would be thinking of Buster Douglas in a different light now if he had.
I said it before and I'll say it again; the Buster Douglas who fought Tyson would beat any HW in a championship fight.
I'm confused, in the interview Mccall says he didn't go to Japan to finish the sparring but in the video, he appears to be in Japan.
Douglas was driven by fear and trained harder than ever before nor after. His march level was not as high as Tyson's, Lewis' etc. but his peak level was really good. That night he was good and Tyson was a bit below par as well.
