Alright, alright. I'll retract my pedantic, discontent opinion:bart. But be warned- this thread could open up the floodgates; whatever next, a thread named after a cult boxer that digresses to such an extent that it morphs into a place where everyone pisses about?;)

We could make it a sticky!!!:p

BTW I'm down to number 7 on my list and its getting very difficult. All the guys in 60s had wins/ loses to each other and so did the guys in the 20s...

Do you not want to learn about the history of British boxing?

Plus, this is the Brit forum where it is the Brit's that voice their opinion, not anyone in the world like the classic :good

Appreciate it, makes working out so much easier and fairer for the lower ten guys who may have a chance at sneaking the mid list.

Woodcock regularly clocked the scales at 190lbs and was not far off the light heavy limit when he came up.

It's not a huge differential, and beating those names alone surpasses names like Don Cockell, Brian London, Herbie Hide (WTF did he ever do?!) and Henry Akinwande.

You're being a bit unfair there. For a couple of years Dunn knocked over everyone he fought. It was only when he moved up into genuine world class that he was exposed. There have been worse British champions.

This guys 1-5 choices look excellent, but for his 1-10 choices; well he should be banned for that.

TFFP appears to have a bit of love for Woodcock.

    Haha....very funny too.

It seems that way because its frustrating seeing joke inclusions like Herbie Hide and Akinwande above him. The guy beat a HOF'er which is more than most of these guys can say, and he didn't lose to loads of bums.

He's still average in the grand scheme of things but then they all are after about #5.

Harsh towards Hide (2 time 'world' champ, won the title at 22, two of four losses to a prime Bowe and Vitali) and especially Akinwande ('world' champ, Schulz, Norris, Tucker, Nelson etc. on his record - sole loss in his prime to Lennox, was winning against McCall until he got stopped in the last round...)

Plus Woodcock's victory over Lesnevich was at light heavyweight, so based on what was discussed before (only rank a fighter in a division based on the fights they had in that division) this fight should not technically be counted in these rankings.

Akinwande is more deserving than Hide, but I don't think I'm being too harsh on Herbie. Who has he beaten, honestly? One credible name that isn't the ancient Tony Tucker. It's not who these guys lost to because they all have losses, some of them have a lot, I'm interested mostly in who they beat...thats the best way to seperate them and Herbie never beat a live soul and still managed to embarrass himself on occasion.

Woodcock weighed 192lbs against Lesnevich so that is not accurate.

No mate not really.... Seeming as people have started feeding a bit more info into the thread I've learned a bit more about the fighters. I've realised my placing of Farr was poor and also that Herbie Hide is no where near as high as I thought he might have been without going through a list on paper. Its a great idea for a thread and has certainly opened my eyes as to the depth of our heavyweights. Need to read up a bit more on Bruce Woodcock after this great stuff.... looking forward to the cruisers.
