Let's just say though that Peter was HYPED to death in the boxing press and on the forums on how he will both dismantle Wlad and Vitali. How Peter had this amazing chin, great stamina, brute strength and great combo accuracy? Haha Now all they can say is "Oh Peter was never great to begin with". Then why were the forum morons running their mouths how Peter will clean up the HW division?
People who run their mouths on this forum are like the heavies that run their mouths. Peter went the distance with Wlad and had plenty of rounds to do something against Vitali, and only proved to be a "C" level heavyweight. It'll be interesting to see if Arreola could do more.
this is just the hasim rahman, shannon briggs, george foreman, jammel mccline way back to the top, its smart, keep him busy against journeyman that give him some rounds but dont risk him, keep his weight down and before you know it after a few ko's on espn he will be back in a big fight
Its an embarrassing fight for an ex world champ. I'd like to think that being in such a situation could be a catalyst for change. Peter could take a good long look at himself. He could say "I was world champ, now I am fighting bums. What went wrong?" Then he could perhaps take a page out of Eddie Chambers book, reinvent himself physically. He could work on his fundamental boxing skills and his discipline in the ring. I don't think he is smart enough to work it out on his own. I don't think he is surrounded by the right people who will tell him what he needs to hear. This fight is a setup; hype him up against some bums and then get a paycheck against a decent name opponent maybe one last time. The people who manage him are trying to extract the fastest, easiest cash. Fast and easy doesn't include trying to re-mold a stubborn and unintelligent fighter until they resemble a world class boxer. Which is a shame, because without this sort of work being done on him, Peter will never beat a decent fighter again.
He may not have been good before facing the Klits but I don't think Peter thought that. He and his camp seemed pretty confident to me. It was Vitali who exposed him and inflicted the psychological damage. Now I'm sure Peter knows he ain't got a chance so Klit did ruin him in that respect.
Peter must have been surrounded by amateurish folks who told him BS like "Peter you will rule the entire division, you are so gifted you don't have to work out" and "just wildly go after Wlad's chin, then he will fold, he has no will power". BS like that. Instead of taking things slow, getting a solid foundation in the gym, working his way up in the level of competition he's facing. Why send him in the ring with 24 fights against a guy like Wlad? What was the point of that? His handlers thought he'd simply walk through Wlad but he didn't and that was the beginning of the end of the "Nightmare". He's a journeyman now, sad really. This guy had MUCH more potential but you can chalk this down as greedy managers sending their man to a tough battle too early.
Peter still has a small career beatin' lower than top 20 opponents sort a like a baseball player with a career in the minor leagues.
