Limond doesn't have any need to put things right with Khan. The whole world knows what really happened - Limond KO7 :deal
yes and the world knows if a boxers down at the count of 8 the ref contiues with 9 and out if the boxers not in an upright position?or are your rules diffrent beeston?
Q. Even now, apart from when amir got stopped, nobody has given amir a harder fight than willie limond, have they? if you agree, why then as willie not even fought for the british since?
That's what I was trying to say, Limond should have been awarded the win by stoppage. From memory, the ref got to about 6 (it was actually 8 counting properly without looking at Warren but anyways) then Khan made an involuntary movement by bending his legs, whilst at the same time signalling he was ready to continue - when it was debatable as to whether he was or not. Put it this way, I'm sure if the boot had been on the other foot, Limond would have had the Lewis vs McCall treatment. On your other post Billy, I can't think of anyone that has. Gomez put him down and hurt him badly to the body, but Khan was always dominant bar that short spell.
I hope the Salita fight comes off as it would be a good fight for Khan to build some US fans, Why does Salita after all the trash talk wants to fight someone else? he is ducking Khan IMO. Well people on here always say Khan ducked Thaxton and Murray, Thaxton is now done, and Khan vs Murray would be a good fight domestic fight. At 140 Khan would school Murray.
Salita has a good following in NY with the Jewish people, plus I think it would be a good fight for Khan to take some risks and put on a show.
Khan didn't want any of Thaxton. They were mandatory for each other's titles and a purse bid was set..... until 'Team Khan' backtracked and brought in the highly skilled, fearsome banger Kristjansen in instead. Much harder fight than Thaxton that, who co-incidentally was on a run of stoppage wins. I have always felt Khan would beat Murray, and let's face it, there was ample time for the fight to have happened. Until Murray does something spectacular soon it won't happen full stop. 5lbs doesn't make that much difference. Glass jaw = glass jaw. It's easy to look iron-chinned when the other guy ain't throwing anything :deal
Boxing is all about timing why chuck in 20 year old prospect back then vs a seasoned hard fighter?. Build your fighter up but then again Khan was in a rush to win a world title and wanted to take shot cuts and then came Prescott. That loss in the long run was a gain, he has a chin weakness and he had to change his style, 5lbs does make a difference but we dont know how much yet till he fights a puncher, but then most fighters can get KOed when they fight punchers. Funny you say Kotelnik was not throwing anything, but i swear he landed over 60 or 70 cleans shots, not bad for a Glass chin.
Thaxton would have been a great learning fight - a winnable one at that. For a guy in a mad rush, it is an even better idea to get the fight made. Would have made a great statement as well - beating the British champion, a puncher as well. Better than sticking him in with some no mark for him to beat up!
