Former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia wants to return to the place where he first found major success. The former two-time title-holder, who left the UFC in early 2008 after mutually agreeing with the organization to terminate his contract, has lost three straight fights, which included an embarrassing nine-second knockout loss to 48-year-old boxer Ray Mercer in June. But on the latest edition of "Inside MMA" on HDNet, Sylvia said he hopes to return to the octagon soon. Sylvia (24-6) next returns to action on Sept. 18, when he fights Jason Riley (6-1) in the main event of Adrenaline MMA IV in Council Bluffs, Iowa. However, despite UFC president Dana White's recent criticism of Sylvia (often to downplay Fedor Emelianenko's accomplishments, including a July 2008 submission victory over Sylvia), the "Maine-iac" said he's kept his mouth shut. "Dana's had some hard things to say about me, but I've never had anything bad to say about him," he said. Sylvia said that not only is the UFC the best organization when it comes to money and big fights (though he earned a staggering disclosed base pay of $800,000 in the loss to Emelianenko), but he already had a few opponents in mind. "When it comes to business, the best thing for Tim Sylvia right now is to be back in the UFC," Sylvia said. "They're the biggest organization. They have the most money, the best fights." He even talks about himself in 3rd person now. You cant help but love his conviction. What a dolt.
Scurla, speaking of Tim, is this REALLY him? :? Sorry, i know it's got nothing to do with your thread, just thought i'd post it! This content is protected
I would like to see sylvia and arlovski back in the ufc. I hope dana white cocky azz let this guys back in the ufc. Heavyweight division need more depth and having 2 former champion would do good. Arlovski vs Mir is a fight i want to see and i would like to see brock vs sylvia and brock vs arlovski.
Sylvia has found his calling.... http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/ca...alling-in-latest-Friday-the-13?urn=mma,187398
Silvia's a tubby, boring fighter. I never watch him fight and that won't change if he comes back to UFC.
Strikeforce should want to buy up Sylvia and Mercer. These guys won't offer the latest talent but amongst MMA fans they offer recognition. Sylvia can't hang with the top blokes. He could make it competative but he'll only win a few when he is facing good contenders like Arlovski or the odd good win over a Mir. Sylvia is a good fighter but Couture, Fedor and Nog have already beaten him and I think Lesnar would tear him up. Get him a win and put him in with Cro Cop.
