wait a second I though Josh was a welter, this guy is a lightweight, what weight is the fight offered at?
I say take it... If your worried about hometown decisions, then I guess you wouldn't be able to fight anywhere in the world, not just in Puerto Rico. Opportunities like this are the ones you guys should take advantage, they don't occur often. Him being in the undercard with this being Calderons rematch with a lot eyes watching how he performs, could open bigger doors on your boys career with a stellar performance. Thats my honest opinion.:good
I wouldn't do it. The guy only has 1 lost and for 2K I don't think it's worth it going through all of that. With the limited info I have about both fighters I would say no deal. Tell them to up their offer to 8-10K and then may'be take it.
Are you having trouble making fights for Josh? No? Then you don't really need this one. Plus he may need to KTFO his opponent to get the win. What are the benefits to you and Josh? He gets some experience with traveling, he gets a reputation as a guy who can make fights happen and is willing to fight, you get more networking happening. What are the downsides? If he loses then what does this mean for him? I get the feeling that he has been selected as a fighter who is expected to lose, in order to boost another fighter's confidence and career. Tough call - but going back to the first sentence, do you need this fight?
I agree with this, but would also like to add, that if he's being brought in as an opponent, things change. If its that way, you can expect alittle home cooking. But, on the flipside, its easier to demand more cash. 2k for a 6er aint bad, but it isn't stellar. Maybe you guys can do some smooth talking to grab another couple grand.
Good Post Josh has a good thing going on here in his hometown. The newspaper is writing articles about him on the front page of the sunday sports section. Just continue what hes doing no need to risk getting another loss so soon. The opportunities will come if he continues to win.
Those 2K will cost him more in the long run, ure boy has to get a KO to win that fight primo dont do it.
Change of mind on this one. I wasnt aware your boy already has a lost in his record and going into someones hometown clearly needs to outclass his opponent or getting a ko to win. Real risky at this point esp. with only two weeks of notice and a total different environment in PR could be all a shock for him. Tough supportive crowd could shock him and his team, its like a Red Sox crowd against a Kansas City Royals crowd, not enough time for all this to prepare him for all different aspects which he has to go against at once. Could affect his performance and a second lost at this point could do him far worst than anything. Don't do it.
I wouldnt go for it, the other guy for what i saw is good, he was looking good but he got caught, he has very good footwork and i have seen fight your boy i think your boy would win but it would be kind of close if this goes the distance and being at the other guys hometown your boy might get robbed so he would have to win by ko, too risky i would say, 2k for knocking out a guy with speed and good footwork in 6 rounds? I wouldnt take it....
You keep doing what your doing and offers will continue to come, but they say its on a two week notice? IN pr? Money will come.... thats not an issue, it will come if you guys keep up what your doing, but a robbery in PR could be more then two steps back. Josh already has a loss, dont want another one so soon into his career even if its by robberies.... makes him less risk worthy... i would pass.
I haven't see your kid fight. But the opponent is not a star, so it will depend if your kid is in good condition. Talking about judging in Puerto Rico is stupid. Specially after watching what happened to Paulie in Texas. And let's not even mention Mexico.
SWEETIE, sorry 4 my ignorance, but, who the f**k is Josh?... Ohhh , and as far as for hometown cooking, then you might wanna keep li'l Joshie fighting for the next 4-5 yrs. in his Mexican turf, that way he'll have a nice padded rec. just like the good 'ol mex way!!!!
