If the boxing gods deemed it a worthy contest and Malignaggi vs Diaz II came to pass, where would you like to see the fight take place. Unconventionally, I think a fight in England on a Khan or Hatton card would be excellant, with the winner taking the other Englishman. With Oscar in the driver's seat, he could stand to make a lot of money and enable the "right thing" to happen in the rematch. Also, in the following event, he could make money with another Hatton fight. Makes, money sense, although I loathe the idea of jumping across the pond to see it live Any other thoughts?
Drop the bong, they won't be fighting in England EVER!!! If there is a rematch, which I highly doubt in the near future, they should do it in Texas again. Why not. Maybe it will make Malignaggi learn to sit down on his punches. He fights like an absolute turd. Yes, you can learn to hit harder. Maybe he should give it a try.
I think Vegas is he most realistic option. I also think that would be a good venue for the fight to occur! They would be the headline (not the Europeans) and it could be on HBO. They could even have a pretty decent 24/7 on it. People who don't want this rematch- don't like boxing.
Yuck- I find a lot more enjoyment in the nearly great matchups rather than the superstars. They are the hungry fighters, you know? If pfp1 loses to pfp2 he only loses a spot in the standings It is when the up-and-comers shock me that I really get amped watching fights. How many more Pacqiao interviews do I have to endure while having no coverage of anyone not in the top 10? Most of the rivalries are between people who were rivals as amateurs even. When they finally get to square off as pros, you see how far they have come from their beginnings. For instance, the Peterson brothers are some of my favorite current fighters. They are always game to fight to better their standings. Like Diaz and Malignaggi
Its not going to happen, from Diaz's standpoint why would he travel across country to fight a guy who he has a win over, while he could make more money fighting less riskier fighters in his hometown?
His biggest ally may be his biggest enemy in this. DLH is the self proclaimed golden boy- and weather or not you side with the critics of the last fight, Golden Boy Promotions is the center of a wild controversy right now. For him to "set the record straight" and maintain that Golden image, he may make this fight happen- Diaz is not the call out type also- always saying "whoever they put in front of me" will be his next fighter. Well it makes business sense that DLH makes it look right to uphold his image. It makes money sense because if there is a Golden Boy promotions fighter on the undercard you could spin the winners to fight to generate more GBP money(i . e. Hatton-who both Malignaggi and Diaz were attempting to get a fight with). and worst case scenario, and Diaz loses- he could spin it into a trilogy and have a third Malignaggi fight in Vegas to settle the rivalry
OMG!! I can't take the thought of a second fight, now you advocate a third?? Maybe they can get it set up at the Plaza downtown and call it the Turd Bowl.
Again- this is strictly a hypothetical situation. There are roads to these events that I think the powers that be would allow for not only a rematch to come into effect, but also, depending on the outcome of the next fight could propose another fight between the 2 or a possile bout with another of the above named fighters. Anyways- as an aside, I think all fighters deserve a fair shake. Not just hometown favorites... I don't know even one person who saw the fight that scored the match the way the judges did. I spoke with people who scored it a little closer and one person that had it a draw(this person was at the fight- perhaps he got caught up in the atmosphere?) Who wants to watch a rigged main event?
