I started at 39. Sadly, I didn't even make it to the car, to go to the gym, as I got distracted by a rerun of Batman, featuring MILTON ****ING BERLE!!!!

You can find a decent amount of fighters who turn pro late but not too many champions started actually boxing late. I know i'm missing somebody out there that was a champion who started from the beginning in his 20s but I just can't think of who right now. There have been title contenders like Micheal Grant and many others but.............. I can't believe I missed this one. BERNARD THE EXECUTIONER HOPKINS. A master boxer and one of the all time greats. 23 years old fresh out of prison. HOW'S THAT FOR INSPIRATION.

No, Hopkins was actually an amateur boxer as a youngen so he was already quite famliliar with boxing even before he went to prison.

I know several professionals who've made a successful go of it with a late start.

Anthony Mundine, Nate Campbell, Hasim Rahman, its very possible, and you should try it!
