24 hours as a nuthugger...A LeonMcS social experiment.

OK, so hardly anyone bought it.

But the events of the last 24 hours demand an explanation, so here it is.

Yesterday while faced with another enthralling day at work my mind got a wanderin' after reading of Chocs proposed new opponent. The fact that some people STILL would throw their arms up in the air and scream blue murder is no surprise. What did slightly throw me was Ash and new boy MiracleMan not even attempting to defend their mans honour. And the genesis of an idea formed...

What would it be like to be a rabid nuthugging fool? What does Ash put himself through every day? Can you defend the undefendable?

These were questions that needed answering. There was only one thing to do. I must assume the role, and play it to the bone. And, I'm not sure if you noticed, but I really tried. I originalli was going to do the experiment for a week, then 72 hours, then 48 but settled on 24, cos dammit, huggin' aint easy.

5PM

Flamengo calls and I tell him of my plans, if everyone starts to think I've gone bat-**** crazy I need someone to verify my intentions later. I'm travelling home from work so decide to formulate my attack.

* Hijack every thread and steer it towards Choc. (Just like Ash)

* Insult anyone who doesn't agree with me and call them haters. (JLA)

* Respond to any challenge by saying the have no argument, just insults, and then insult them.

* Defend Choc against any and every attack. (JLA)

* Start new threads praising Choc and bagging everyone else.


5.30PM

I decide to jump in boots and all when I get a phone call from Phil Austin. I steer the conversation towards Choc and start talking up the validity of his choice of opponent.
Phil agrees. He thinks I'm taking the ****.
I say its an outrage, that Falliga should be rated in the top 10 and that politics is keeping him down.
Phil agrees. He says Falliga should be in the Rings pound for pound list.

This is harder than I thought.

Finally I hit pay dirt when Phil mentions the IBO won't be sanctioning the fight. I seize my oppurtunity.

"Thats why the IBO will always be a second rate organisation run by second rate wannabes like yourself, your a disgrace, you should be reffing wrestling matches you have that much credibility!"

Ladies and gentleman, the stunned silence on the end of the line was the high point of my experiment.

But, in order to preserve my good reputation (no, really) I had to let him in on the experiment, lest he think I'd finally lost it. Besides, I had an anti IBO rant saved for later.


6.38PM

The first post. In the 'Mundine is in talks with this guy' thread I post an innocuos comment demanding some respect for Choc. TheDuke is the first to bite.

Lets see what we get in response. And I'm sure to no-ones surprise.

Yep, didn't take long at all. Even came with the mandatory spelling mistake. Chac would be so proud.

7PM onwards.

Slam IBO? Check. Hang **** on Phil? Well, I don't need an excuse to do that. Check.

A worrying trend emerges. No-one believes me. As hard as I try everyone thinks I'm taking the ****. Well I am but dammit, thats not the point.

I decide to go to personal attacks but unfortunately my first recipient is someone I've been meaning to contact for weeks about something. Take a bow Waynesmale. Poor old Wayne, one minute I'm accusing him of being a potential racist and the next hes getting a pm from me asking him to email me. Oh to have seen the look on his face...


My Magnum Opus.

'Leave Choc alone'

A hugger must defend his huggee's nuts no matter the cost. With that in mind I started my Choc tribute thread. Now to help me along here I decided I'd need some pretty pictures. And believe me, if you want boxing comedy gold, theres no man better than Anthony Mundine.

Flamengo joins the party and starts a flame war. I respond.

No-one is buying it.

20a87 (who he?) joins in and gives what I think is the quote of the night.

Thats right, because no-one has ever lied on tv before.

I can't decide if hes with me or against me, so I insult him as well.

Also at this point I would like to apologise to Daniel Geale for the following;

Sorry Daniel, collateral damage.

Still, 99% of you aren't buying it. Ash is overjoyed though.


4PM

Kegsy calls. I complain that Choc doesn't get enough respect. He laughs. Hes not buying it.


ENDGAME

I've spent 24 hours walking a path I don't think I'll ever again. I upheld the mans name against the slings and arrows as best I could and just got laughed at, with a few nibbles. Was it worth it?

Nah, not really.

How can you defend him? Even in jest, its hard. And yet people here still say 'Oh, when he fights someone with a pulse I'll support him.' Oh please. Stop it. You're just encouraging him.

Hes a charade. A fake. Yes, hes rich and when he retires he'll be getting out with a full wallet and most of his faculties intact (Must...resist...cheap...shot). So in that regard hes a unqualified success.

But if theres anyone, anywhere, still who carrys a torch for Choc or believes anything that comes out of his mouth.

Shame. Shame on you.
