I dont think Carlos would be silly enough to try to walk through Rocky's artillery...but like Turpin says he picks him apart.
100 odd fights and never stopped...Id say so. Rocky really wasnt even a very big middleweight..he had a punch of a big middleweight but would have been the significantly smaller man in there. Watch how Carlos gets up from a Rodrigo Valdez bomb late in his career...A wicked shot from a big puncher and he just bounces straight up. Carlos could be hurt, as the Briscoe fight showed...but if Bennie or Rodrigo couldnt put him away with some of the leather they managed to hit him with then I dont think Rocky fairs any better.
Rocky would be unable to launch any kind of sustained attack, as Monzon keeps him at arm's length for a comfortable UD. May even TKO him late.
Graziano was a aggressive brawler who loved a tear up. He had scary power in his right hand(scoring 52 Knockouts in 67 wins). Graziano was only interested in one thing and that was hitting you with his sledge hammer right. Other than that, he was as limted as a fighter can be. He was really a Junior Middelweight, easy to hit, with crude skills and not always in peak condition. Rocky is just out of his depth with the huge Monzon. Carlos threw long, hard, accurate punchers with both hands. He had a tight defence and was a expert at controlling the pace and rythem of a fight, aswell as having pinpoint accuracy. Monzon can pick Graziano apart and score a KO victory without much trouble.
Graziano would be an easier nights work for Monzon than both Valdez fights put together. He poses less problems IMO.
Monzon would have kept Graziano at bay with his jab, careful long-range boxing, and well-placed counterpunches. I can't picture Graziano giving Monzon too much trouble. My guess is that the pace of the fight would have been slow, as Graziano would not have been able to score with any decent punches, and Monzon would have been content to methodically control the tempo of the bout. Monzon wins this bout easily, but I'm not sure that he would have kayoed Rocky. Graziano was stopped only three times -- twice by Zale and once by Robinson -- so we know he could take a heavy punch. Possibly Monzon scores a TKO in the later rounds against a hopelessly worn down and defenseless Graziano. More likely, though, Monzon wins this one by wide UD.
Monzon would bust graziano up and stop him inside of 10 rounds. graziano would have no chance of beating monzon because he was too wide open and monzon would take advantage of this with those straight, jarring punches. The effect of those punches would be multiplied as monzon would catch him coming in. Graziano, though tough, was too wild and crude and monzon was too smart, strong and skilled. Not much of a contest at all.
Some of you are forgetting that Monzon could punch. He won the crown with a big right hand....the punch he would have ko'ed Rocky with.
