His resume is more stacked than either Chavez's or Sanchez's, and I believe at his best he was more well rounded than Chavez and just as skilled as Sanchez (though not as durable). Gomez was a better fighter P4P than anyone Olivares beat, but not as a Featherweight.

I'm not surprised at all, so many people pay little or no attention to the smaller guys, it's sad really.

it's just an honest observation pare...;) imagine knocking down 3 out of the 8 Mexican greatest fighters on that list... Is there any other boxer that had done that?? I think no more...

    buxzer,

you fail to mention that erik morales was washed up and not in his prime physically anymore unlike pacquiao. the second marquez fight was a bull**** decision and you even know it. now let me bring you back to earth just a little bit:

    WORLD CHAMPIONS
    Mexico/Mex-Am Champs....philippines/fil-am champs
    155

    crap, hit the wrong button......

    WORLD CHAMPIONS

    MEXICO/Mex-Am - 155
philippines/fil-am - 32. 17 of those pinoy champions were one and done frauds with 0 title defenses. that's over half of pinoy champs.

    TITLE DEFENSES

    MEXICO - 595
pelepens - 55...that is less than 2 title defenses per champion.

MEXICO - Mexico has had 28 featherweight champions. Almost the grand total of the entire philippines!

Mexico's featherweight champions have 64 title defenses, that's more than the entire philippines has EVER produced.

Leads the pelepens in head-to-head competition in world title fights by a 43-21-2 count.

Mexico has the second most world champions in the world behind the united states.

PHILIPPINES - rank behind the following countries in world champs...

England has had 50 world champions

    France has had 33.

Japan with 54 towers the pelepens.

    korea with 44

puerto rico with 42. this tiny island with less than 5 million has produced more champions than the philippines with a population of 96 million.

even thailand has produced more champions at 37.

Final analysis: you pinoys can't even beat the japs, koreans or the thais. puerto rico with their tiny population even kicks your little asses. :rofl
