This might be a good way for Floyd to get Marquez out of his gameplan and prevent him from throwing combinations.
It's a smart strategy actually...but to be fair, as a fight fan with no bias on either side, I'd really hope not. The only thing worse than a clinch fest would be a Quartey-De La Hoya deal where it's 9 rounds of staring at one another followed by 3 great rounds.
this will not be a clinchfest; and if it is the man who is hurt will favor. This will be a counterpunch fest. Once the first big counter is landed, the fight will open up.
Floyd does it more than you think, he clinches with his right hand and bumps you with his left elbow then fires the right upper or left hook off of that bump.
I don't think these two will do enough infighting for there to be much clinching. I'm thinking the fight will be more of a shootout and not a brawl. It'll be fought mostly at long and mid range with sharp, long punches being exchanged.
I hope not for JMM sake. Then the strength difference will be very apparent. PBF is extremely strong in the clinch. He made Hatton the clinch god his ***** when they clinched. Those elbows is something they should warn the ref about. PBF has been getting away with it or way too long. I can see them causing a fight ending cut on JMM fragile face. He cuts really easy.
That's not true. Floyd's clinching can get excessive at times... but unlike other clinchers, he doens't have to clinch all the time because he actually knows how to fight well on the inside.
I don't know about that. JMM seems to have a more explosive offense when in close, while Mayweather is better defensively. I'd say they're about even in that category. Both are good when in close, but they should probably stay on the outside when dealing with a stronger infighter.
