You can't pinpoint one factor that single-handedly ruined Tyson's career because there were too many that contributed to his downfall. Amidst all the chaos that had unfolded in Mike's life, the ring had served as his lone sanctuary. When he lost that it was pretty much the beginning of the end. Mike was usually all over the place in his interviews but I took him at his word when he said that his career was basically over after the Douglas fight.

i think it was prison myself....
After losing to Buster he cleaned his act up, beat Tillman (who beat him in the amateurs), beat Alex Stewart who was a top ranked contender at the time and who gave current champ Holyfield a good fight...and then went on to Whoop Razor Ruddock twice...he was literally on the verge of becoming champ again...

he declined big time, but held on ..even after the holyfield fights.
I blame inactivity- prison, suspension, prison and lazyness.

It was losing to buster douglas that ruined him, he was shown as a bully and that if someone could take his best shot and not be tentative in fighting him he got scared and lost his head. mccall wouldve knocked him out lewis wouldve knocked him out, tua wouldve knocked him out, foreman wouldve beat him viciously, bowe wouldve destroyed him, and if he had still been around when ibeabuchi came to prominence ike wouldve knocked his ass out 1st or 2nd round, he wouldve won a title or two by beating people like bruno or moorer but the above stated wouldve taken his titles without a second thought

What ended Tyson's career was the death of Cus + Don King + Robin Givens.

Thats True Jim....Thats Similar To Ali Who Fought After His Exile, his Legs And Speed Was Gone But He Fought On
Tyson Was Shot after prison but he fought on and the only 2 people he lost to after prision were ATGs In Holyfield And Lennox....(and then 2 bums at the end of his career)

i came across an article once on the internet, there was a picture of Tyson on the front of this magazine after the Ruddock fight and in big letters it said SHOT....so some people knew he was already finished....

He hardly cleaned up his act. Tillman was chosen so Tyson could get a win under his belt and Stewart froze before the fight even began. Check out his ringwalk if you don't believe me. The victories that Tillman had scored over Tyson 6 years earlier had become mere footnotes by the time they met as pros.

Yes, Tyson beat Ruddock twice and while both were solid wins, they were hardly anything spectacular. Ruddock caught Tyson with telegraphed punches that the old Mike would have seen coming from a mile away. All the Ruddock fights did was further solidify the fact that he had become a headhunter. That, and show that he had one hell of a chin.

Your an idiot. Tyson wasn't a bully. He lost to Douglas because he didn't train. Learn the facts. Tyson walked through harder shots against Ruddock.

Mccall would've gotten sparked against Tyson
Tua was a poor man's Tyson.
Ibeabuchi could be a tough fight, Tyson would be favored.
    Lewis would have gotten KO'd.

Ryanty, your entitled to your opinion however i disagree
Tyson was not a bully....he was one of the smallest heavyweights of all time...knocking out many bigger guys, he had speed which rivalled Alis...only he hit harder, he punched in combos, he had a rock solid chin, he was hard to hit due to his peek a boo defence
As One of his Opponents remarked...He Was All Your Worst Nightmares Come True
Sugar Ray Lenoard Said Of Mike....Mike Tyson Was A Killing Machine
Jerry Izenburg Said Mike Tyson Was A Fine Fighter But By The Time He Got To Douglas All That Was Left Was The Aura
Larry Holmes said Before Tyson Fought Spinks....Tyson Is Hard To Hit And He Hits Very Hard
Mike Tyson Was Not A Bully....He Was Simply Too Good
Douglas Put On A great Fight Yes, But Tyson Had Not Been training, what would have happened if they had a rematch? i think we all the know the answer
Mcall was his sparring partner....Tyson would have disposed of him
Lennox Lewis Admitted After their Fight That He Felt A Little Rough After The 1st round...and that was against a nearly 40 year old Mike.....]
David Tua yes he had a good chin...but Tyson would have tested his flabby body and im not sure Tua would have made it into the later rounds....Tyson has more in his arsenal and a whole lot better
The Only person who would have beaten him....is George Foreman...Why? Because Cus Himself said A Swarmer will never be able to beat Foreman
i havent seen much of Ike...but him knocking Mike Out in 1st or 2nd round makes me laugh.....he couldnt even knock Tua out in 12......and liek i said before Mike Tyson = David Tua x50
Ask Holyfield And Lennox Lewis.....Whose The Best Name On Their Resume?
Yep we All Know The Answer....
