So all the time Povetkin is injured he retains his number one spot but as soon as Wlad gets injured Povetkin gets an "interim" title? Since when did the IBF do "interim" titles anyway?

Why would he do that when he's already sitting on the IBF mandatory?

I'm interested in who Povetkin would fight for the Interim title, and of what sanctioning body is this title coming from, IBF?

I guess it will be the IBF interim title and most likely it will be Povetkin vs Chambers II.

It could be an interim title against anybody, let's put it this way Chambers vs Wladimir will happen next as long as Chambers doesn't lose his mandatory status, but Povetkin will be waiting for like another 9 months to fight Wlad, that's really not worth it.

Povetkin might as well fight Ruiz to be WBA mandatory and fight the winner of Haye/Valuev.

You seem to be little naive about how decisions are made in boxing. Povetkin is IBF mandatory (I think he should have lost that position by now but I digress) meaning he's guaranteed a shot at Klitschko or at least a vacant title. Why would he risk that and the money it would generate for him by going down another route and taking on a fighter he could lose to?

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but he would be foolish to do it.

Why on earth should Povetkin have lost his mandatory spot? Wladimir will have postponed fighting the man that beat Chambers, who is the mandatory that Wlad wants to fight, by two years. At least Lewis had enough class to just drop the belts, Wladimir should fight Povetkin in March, instead he will wait till September of next year.

It is true that Povetkin will probably not fight Chambers. Most likely it will be a match versus Maskaev as he is the IBF number 4, which is a shame.

Rubish, Povetkin will not fight Maskaev, as Maskaev was Povetkin's Idol. Povetkin will take on some ranked, but clearly winnable stay busy fight that little risk. If Maskaev's back is healed (a big if) he's a very dangerous fighter to fight.(look how competitive he was with Peter without training)

Because he's no longer injured and has been arranging fights with people other than Wladimir. No one else has been afforded this kind of discretion.

Povetkin has a better shot at beating Ruiz, Valuev, or Haye than Wladimir.

Povetkin has earned his shot at Wladimir, but he's waited way too long for the fight and he's earned it, he beat Byrd and Chambers clearly, and then the staybusy fight against jason Estrada, and now he has to wait again. Povetkin might want to try for the WBA title by fighting a mandatory there, it's up to Povetkin's management now.

So Povetkin refuses to fight the Champion on several occasions and gets rewarded with a shot at the interim title?

    WTF!?!?
