As i'm on he east side of the pond, I only saw this fight about 4 days ago, but Escalente really impressed me and definitely persuaded me to stay up till 5/6am to watch him fight in the future.

How far do you think he can go?

With the SBW division not being that strong and going to get considerably weaker in the next year with Rafa, Izzy, Cab and Juanma planning to move up; he could probably win a title or two.

Will he be world class or elite? Or do you not rate him at all.

(Props to Cornelius Lock. I just dont know how he didnt go down more than twice in that fight.)

He can take on Choi after/if Choi win a legit world title. I'd love to see Choi win a world title over anyone in the game, but I'm happy for Escalante to take it from him in his first defence.

I saw him against Mike Oliver...he's a tough opponent with some flaws but a very very good guy. If I were in charge of Top Rank and I wanted to test JuanMa on PPV, I'd put him up against Escalante. He'd be a great test, he reminds me a bit of El Famoso.

Edit: Forgot Escalante is at 122. Silly.

To risky for Juanma as he aint inflated, a bum or limited with a belt.

Now, lets not be hasty. Choi cant get an opponent in the UK, none of the padded prospects are allowed to fight him nor or the more established, so what is he to do? Did you see what he did to Derry Mathews? After that no one wanted to touch him, he retired for a short period because he couldnt get a fight. So, don't pull the WBU bull**** on Choi, got it.

JuanMa would beat him easily if you're implying otherwise.

I think if they pushed for Cristobal Cruz they might make that fight happen.

He fought Ponce De Leon who was expected to march right through him and PDL then>Escalante now.

I'm sure JuanMa would have no problems handling Escalante...Top Rank on the other hand :patsch

Then Fight Him...Or any Top-Level Opponent. Juanma is 26-0. No need to keep fighting scrubs. Plenty of talented fighters from 122-130lbs. He's got the Build-up, The name, and a Belt. Now its time to fight the Top-Level Fighters. If he can beat Escelante...Then fight him!!!

Juanma's next fight is in Oct. vs Rogers Mtabwa who is 26-12...REALLY???? Because Juanma is a "Hyped" Puerto Rican fighter with a big following..There are plenty of fighters from 122-130lbs that would LOVE an opportunity to fight him for a big payday and to show....THAT HE IS A "PROTECTED FIGHTER":

Chris John, Rocky Juarez, Robert Guerrero (overrated) and especially Gamboa are waiting for a chance...Along with Guillermo Rigondeaux. And there is a young undefeated prospect from Houston Texas named Hylon Williams 130lbs. He's a former multi-time Amatuer Champ who's READY FOR THE BIG TIME!!!

ITS TIME TO STEP-UP!!!! Or is Juanma going to follow the same script as Cotto and fight the 122lbs versions of Oktal Urkal, Gianluca Branco, Mohammed Abduleav, Alfonso Gomez and Michael Jennings????

the fight i would love to see if antonio escalante vs. bernabe concepcion. this would be a rock'em sock'em matchup with probably multiple knockdowns. in the end i think escalante would be too strong for bernie.

I've seen Escalante from ringside. He has fast hands, excellent combination punching ability, and he really crunches with his left hook. Escalante's offensive skills are good enough to overwhelm most guys out there. He is very intense.

The question mark, however, is how Escalante holds up against a dangerous world level foe who consistently hits back. As I understand it, Escalante was stopped once in the past against a fighter he should have beaten. Thus, Escalante's staying power and durability are being questioned.

Tony is the man! I was there in El Paso when he fought Locke and he looked great. I think he will go far.
