    From Winky on

He decisions two unremarkable fighters in David Estrada and Jose Luis Cruz then moves up to 154 to fight Fernando Vargas. Vargas was diminished, but still had something left, coming off a four fight win streak (including a win over future belt holder Javier Castillejo). A close fight ensues which is stopped due to freakish swelling around Vargas' eye. I had Mosley ahead at the time of the stoppage.

He fights Vargas again, in this fight Vargas seems utterly shot and very ineffective, Mosley dominates and stops him.

Mosley moves back down to welterweight and wins a dominant decision over a very good contender in Luis Callazo (who arguably beat both Ricky Hatton and Andre Berto)

The Collazo fight lines him up against one of the best welterweights of his generation and P4P top 10 fighter, Miguel Cotto. Mosley losses by razor thin decision.

He moves back up to 154 to take on the Ricardo Mayorga. Mayorga seemed focused and determined, but it's hard to tell how good he was at the time of this fight, as he hasn't fought sense and prior to this he had a close fight against a pretty much washed up Fernando Vargas. A close fight, but I had Mosley clearly ahead on the cards and he closed the show in epic fashion.

Mosley moves back down to 147 and gets another title shot against the consensus No. 1 welterweight in the world, Antonio Margarito. Antonio Margarito, holding wins over top welterweights Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey, was seen as the heavy favorite but Mosley upset the odds and dominated Margarito, winning every round (as I saw it) and finishing Margo in the 9th in devastating fashion.

So, how do you see this run of fights? Taking into account that throughout this stage of his career Mosley has been in his mid to late 30's.

A showing of a true ATG, in my opinion.

    Questionable

why did he refuse a 3rd fight with DLH to fight Winky instead?

Margarito and Mayorga made him look better than he really is.

Maybe he figured that business was done and he wanted another challenge. Maybe he thought a win over Winky would mean more in legacy terms than a third win over DLH.

I thought Mayorga made him look quite bad, actually. His constant clinching and awkwardness really turned that fight into an ugly affair, though the KO was classic.

Because he wanted to give Winky the chance DLH never did. It was also a chance to unify 154.

Wrong. If he'd beaten Winky the next fight was going to be Trinidad. If he'd beaten Trinidad he was going to fight Hopkins next.

He lost the 2nd delahoya fight,so maybe thats why he didnt fight him again cause even though he got the 2 wins he still would have made more money than a rematch with wright, also i think mayorga made him look bad too but the knockout was classic.I thought cotto pulled it out by 1 point and i had money on mosley, but right know i think hes the most dangerous for pacman, hes too big and hes still got very good speed. So it works out for manny to fight cotto, cause cotto beat mosley.Although hes the most dangerous those otherguys pacman, mayweather are playing it safe cuz at 38 mosley could get old overnight.I thought he was losing it before margarito, but he looked like he was back even though margarito looked slow alot of it was cuz mosley revived himself, but i think hes smart to stay away from williams, not a good matchup for him.clotteys tough and hopefully mosley dont look past him to bigger money fights. He better come in 100%.

I think Shane has had a very good run since the Winky fights culminating in a terrific win of Margarito.

I think one thing we can say for sure though, something that Shane has admitted himself, is that he really should stick to the welterweight division.

He looked awful in the Mayorga fight. I know part of this was down to Mayorga's awkward style but i just don't think the extra weight is good for Shane. He looks slower, more sluggish and his timing was well of.
