Randy would not be able to handle either fighter's speed. Both of these fighters strike too fast for Couture, and would stop him.
Machida would be the more difficult opponet because I feel hes already to get your hands on and if you do he is so phyiscally strong. I think Couture would smash Silva as long as he doesnt play the standup game longer then just setting up his takedown. Couture would likely come forward and throw a right-left combo and force a clinch. Silva cant stop a takedown to save his life at 185 so he sure as heck aint stopping Randy Coutures takedowns. From there Couture is much bigger and much stronger and would brutalize him with GNP IMO and stop him inside the first round.
Mike, the only real similarities Machida and Lidell have is that they prefer doing stand up striking first, rather than grappling immediately. Machida is excellent at keeping distance and has great movement and "ring generalship". He doesnt stay in the pocket too long and throw too many combos and become vulnerable to counters and takedown attempts. He can be hit by kicks from time to time, but Couture is not exactly a great striker. Machida likes to stay away and potshot and snipe down his opponent patiently, and Couture's gonna have a hard time catching him.
At this point, I think Randy would lose to both. But, I think a good five-7 years ago he would have a good shot at Machida. Likely not this version of Anderson Silva though. Randy is a very crafty, cerebral fighter. I think he would figure out a way to get ahold of Machida and smother him/maintain dominant position on the ground and do enough to drag out a win.
Unusually for you your points are not bad in theory; the problem is that the Randy that would be able to do this no longer exists. Around the time Randy was beating the hell out of Vitor and Chuck he was a much quicker and obviously a much younger man, in terms of actual age as well as "mileage" on his body and most notedbly on his chin. Randy has always believed in engaging a striker with strikes to get into the clinch, it has worked brilliantly over the years; he is actually quite a technical and powerful striker now because of fighting and training this way for years. The problem, and it's a huge one, is that while he has gained technically he has lost physically; going back to HW did rejuvenate him for a while and maybe even gave us the best Randy ever. Going back down to LHW might give him another rejuvination, but it would more likely just take away some of his power. In short it's very hard to see this fight turning out differently than his last two fights with Chuck. It would take a minor miracle for Randy to win these fights, with Lyoto probably being the slightly tougher of the two; Cliche as it may be by now, it does have to be said that he has performed unbelievable feats over and over, so ruling him out 100% is never a good idea, but I just don't think he would do very well against these two.

Randy would have to shoot some double legs or something. Everyone time he gets hit hes down and nearly out.
if tito ortiz can amost submit machida (which he nearly did but the bell sounded) then im pretty sure couture could... you think randy the master tactician and game plan maestro would keep it standing against silva?? if anyone can beat those two couture can, even now.
No bro the bell didnt sound with Tito agianst Machida, Machida actually did escape with like 30 secounds left which was all because of sweat IMO he even said he was close to going cold in a interview I read. Now Rashad was almost Gullotined by Ortiz but the rounded ended in that fight.
Not totally true he still has alittle bit of his great chin left he took a clean headkick from Gonzaga and moments later finished him. He took like 5-6 gigantic shots from Lesnar before the shot behind the year finished. Whats really bad for him at this point is his recovery agianst Liddell the 2nd fight he was basically out cold and the 3rd fight he was awake but couldnt recover and with Lesnar he plenty of time to recover and could not. IMO Nogueira would have finished him with the 1st KD had he not went for the Darce. Thats the downsides of being in your 40s and fighting.
