I've seen 4 or 5 reputable posters on this site post that PBF vs JMM is a mismatch in the last few days, but if this is the case then surely... PBF vs Hatton DLH Baldomir Judah Mitchell Gatti Bruseles Corley N'dou Sosa were even bigger mismatches ? JMM is the best fighter Floyd has faced, regardless of weight. Does anyone think JMM would lose to the Hatton or DLH that Floyd/Pac faced ? No I didnt think so. JMM vs PBF is a legimate superfight, and even though I expect JMM to give it his all I think PBF will win a decision in a great tactical fight.
People are just blowing it out of proportion. They say its a mismatch since JMM is the smaller fighter:deal Floyd height - 5'8 reach - 72 JMM height - 5'7 reach - 67 JMM is moving up nine pounds which we have yet to know if it will make him slower. Of course Floyd has moved up throughout his career as well. Its the good smaller guy against the good unbeaten bigger guy.
Mosley, Pacquaio and Wiliams In that order. Are the only boxers who can give Mayweather a tougher fight Than Marquez in the 147 range. And no I'm not forgeting about anyone else.
Anyone in his right senses knows deep down that JuanMa Marquez can't wait, absorb Floyd's fire and counter-punch with the same strength and effect so what's the issue on this thread???... People want to see two skilled athletes under serious pressure from the public and media in order to compete with other p4p competitors? It's pointless... JMM is never gonna be able tp fight inside and inflict serious damage on Floyd like he did to Juan Diaz.. This content is protected .
JMM would have been killed by the Oscar Floyd fought..go back and watch the fight. Hatton would have rolled his up like a cuban cigar.
The perception of it being a mismatch is all about the styles and physical advantages Floyd has. It doesn't matter that JMM is probably the most skilled fighter Floyd has faced when we're not even certain he can hit hard enough at 144 to hurt Floyd if he does land on him. Floyd is bigger, faster, and fresher than JMM, plus he has at least comparable boxing skill to boot. The only things that might be in JMM's favor are: Floyd having ring rust, Floyd making 144, and the detail that JMM, unlike a lot of Floyd's recent opposition, is most likely not going to meekly allow Floyd to make the fight a sparring session(DLH), nor will he attack Floyd in a careless manner(Hatton).
These two fights weren't that much of mismatches. Floyd was going up to 154 and DLH still had a little in the gas to give Floyd a fight, and he did it was a very very close fight. The Hatton fight wasn't that much of a mismatch because Hatton was undefeated and not a shot fighter, like what Pacquiao fought, and plus Hatton had fought at 147 before.
I would have to agree with you. JMM is too small and should stay put in his weight class. Pac would probably be PBF next opponent again he would be too small.
Lets just say that Floyd has all the advantages going into this fight. Floyd should have fought Berto or Collaso as a tune up if he really needed it. Anyways im watching regardless so who am I to complain lol
SSM and Pac WILL give PBf problems. Thats a legit 50/50 fight. WILLIAMS WILL BEAT MAYWEATHER ANY GIVEN DAY!!
Gatti was the worst in so many ways. I remember leading up to it Floyd trashed him and said oh Gattis a loser, a bum, a heavybag with feet. Then he claims its for the Junior Welterweight Championship and when he wins its oh Gattis the real deal and a great fighter. Floyd always needs something to hold onto in his fights weather the guy lost his last fight or is smaller or is old etc. The 2002 and previous Mayweather doesnt exist anymore.
and yes, i think the hatton that mayweather fought would give jmm hell, because hatton is falling fast hes becoming highly underrated, at least his prior form
I'm not implying a mismatch at all. Marquez is a very good boxer and may very well have physical advantges not haveing to lose weight. However I still think that Mayweather will win.
