I used to box, yeah man. Only amateur though. Trained since I was 8 though, and I'm 27 now, so I've taken plenty of ass kickings in the gym. SnR
i have been for a bit more than 2 years and have 5 fights so far (3-2) but with college, work and the fact that i want to enjoy life a bit it makes it difficult to have more fights...
i had two sparring fights with one friend of mine who practise mma for 5 years and one who is an amateur boxer, they kicked my ass^^ i had or have a good punch, but no real talent, so i have more fun watching and talking about boxing
trained and sparred a lot, still come to a gym on occasion, but never have any fights sa i started very late in my 30s..
Yeah but people that have never boxed tend to disrespect fighters a lot more. You have to put the gloves once in a while just to see how difficult and fun at the same time it is.
I trained for several years with an ex-pro and his son. I actually got pretty good but I never really tried to compete or get in competition shape because I was always a football player first, right up through college and football training is a lot more anerobic. I was a 225lb LB in college, but I was very muscular, and they felt like ( and were probably right) that my optimum fighting weight would've beenin the 190's. But i can honestly say that boxing tarining is a motherf**ker and I have trememndous respect for all fighters (except cheaters)
One time an old lady was taking her sweet time in the grocery lineup, and she left her cart there which really pissed me off. I was so mad I almost tapped her on the shoulder and landed a right cross bomb on her chin. Would have KTFO'ed her for sure. Does that count? Also, in third grade, I got into a schoolyard brawl with some kid. Got him down on the ground and started punching him as hard as I could in the face. When I realized my punches were having no effect on him, I started getting nervous. The sound of the bell rang to end recess and I ran as fast as I could back into the school.
Not seriously, just sparring in a gym. I went to a boxing club when I was a kid but at different times got injuries to both knees and both ankles, unrelated to boxing but they stopped me playing any sports for a lot of my teens. Started going to a gym again in my early twenties but got in the **** too many times when I turned up with bruises on my face so I had to call it quits. I was never particularly good at it.
