Has Mayweather ever shown the kind of balls that Marquez is displaying?

He made a career fighting bigger guys, what's your point?

Marquez isn't THAT smaller in size anyway, this is NOTHING like DLH/Pacquiao and not close. Marquez wasn't at 144lbs fighting shape in the press conference when they announced it and didn't look as "smaller" as people here try to make it look.

What's hilarious is how Mayweather has no balls for fighting Marquez yet Margarito was an old school gladiator for making a name for his self calling out guys in lower weights whilst ignoring offers to avenge losses.

as of late, there really has been no reason to take those kinds of risks....
if mayweather loses, you best believe he will take on some tougher comp so that he can re-establish himself as one of the greatest of our era.....

marquez has been jobbed many times, so he's on a rampage plus he's in a win-win situation......

this is actually a bigger risk for mayweather then marquez...

    Totally agree.

Marquez goes in fully relaxed knowing that if he loses then he's EXPECTED to lose, so there's no pressure there. All the pressure is on Mayweather and how he looks losing or winning.

It's always more pressure when you're expected to win in a sport where one punch could change everything.

i really dont understand why may's getting so much **** for this...i love that he's giving marquez an opportunity and i love how all the positives are stacked on marquez's side (kind of biased but it's true, i am glad)

not only that, but unless clottey, berto and paul williams do something super duper huge in a few months to make them superstars, floyd is only gonna be left with huge options like manny, cotto or shane....that to me is great for the sport....after this fight, there really is no where to hide for any fighter, all the elites are gonna fight each other and that's the way it should be

Excellent post and I'm also glad he's giving Marquez a shot and a well deserved payday. Let's face it, Marquez has been asking for a Pac third fight and was told to move up and make an impression if he wants to get a third fight and Mayweather was the one to give him that fight and a chance to get a HUGE victory. If Mayweather didn't give him the huge fight who else will?, this fight sets things straight, there will be no "Oh Pac should fight Marquez in a third fight!, Mayweather should fight....etc". Winners fight and that ends it, if Marquez wins no one will nag about why Pac didn't fight Mayweather and so on.

As you said, after this fight there's no way to hide for anyone. Who else will Mayweather fight if he wins other than Mosley or Pac as he already SAID he will target next?, whatever they go for their next pick is a huge one whether they want it or not. He didn't return for minor fights.

what the hell does walking around weight have to do with anything? so many ignorant posters use the term like its an indicator of true size. if klit and arreola walk around at the same weight, it does not mean they are the same size. morales being fat does not make him a middle weight boxer.
marquez is smaller than floyd no matter how you try and crunch the numbers. he is also way older in boxing years and shouldnt even be competing at welter. does anyone really think if his camp thought he could win at welter (where the big money starts) he wouldnt be there allready. marquez is taking the payday because floyd is the only one that would try and sell the fight as legitimate with a straight face.

The fight is a good one and the reason Marquez is moving up is a third fight with Pacquiao. He asked them for a third fight and they demanded he moves up and scores a major KO equivalent to Pac's wins over Hatton and DLH if he wants it and Mayweather opened the doors to that. This is Marquez' best chance to get a third fight with Pac, he won't get anything better than this and Pac wasn't going to bother with him if he didn't move up and score a big win. Mayweather moved up 5 weight divisions to score major fights/wins, Marquez is doing the same and many others did it. I don't see how this is strange in boxing unless you're a dumbass noob.

Why wouldn't he try to sell it with a straight face?, there's nothing to be ashamed of here. He's not fighting your mother.

keep references to my mother out of your mouth and ive been following the sport longer than youve been alive so dont tell me what constitutes a "noob".
floyd isnt ashamed because the guy has no shame, he comes from trash and turned out true to form. i am well aware of his skill and also aware of his deficiency in character. he is not the first to sell his soul for money and he wont be the last.
you want to talk boxing skill, we can discuss floyd and the truth about how good he is. you want to discuss his character, then you are better off preaching to the kids on here who dont know any better.

I never mentioned your mother using my mouth, it's my fingers, don't get too emotional.

For someone who claims to have been watching for a while you WOULDN'T call a fighter "trash" especially one who's currently competing for fighter of this generation alongside Pacman. I don't know for how long you will claim to be a fan but to me people who make such comments because they can't control their hatred and are easily overshadowed by it are women, newbies or weak losers.

We can discuss skill, sure. Sadly I don't see any point discussing boxing skill with someone who calls certain, obviously great fighters, trash. I better off discuss with someone mature.

I'm not the one to bring up his personal life, you're the one that did it. I'm in a boxing forum to discuss boxing and what they do in the ring. Obviously you seem to be offended that he's in love with money like ALL fighters are. Here's a tip for you, professional old school fan, ALL fighters fight for money, if money wasn't there they WON'T BE HERE. Put that in your damn head, praises or hate from the likes of you or me don't pay their bills. I'm here to discuss what they do in the ring, what they do with their money is none of my business, I tend to focus on what I do with my money, I suggest you do the same. Maybe you work for free, others don't.
