When will Bernard Hopkins fight a Top 10 Lightheavyweight Fighter?

the last time was against champ tarver. for 3 years now, he has been fighting guys from lower division. Is that the definition of p4p?

Bernard is the long reigning 170 champ.
it is the most talented division including stars such as :
hopkins , calzaghe , roy jones , felix trinidad , ronald wright , kelly pavlik.
i propose to jose' sulaiman to invent some belt for it.
he was also 2 weights reigning champion in the past :
160 (def. felix trinidad) 158 (def . oscar delahoya)

I guess when he'll fight the World Cruiserweight Champ you're gonna bump this thread and tell us how Hopkins is running from real LHWs. :patsch

I second what BigBone says. This is a hate thread, I think. Obviously Bernard, the former middleweight world champion gets p4p credit for beating men who are from his former weight and over to begin with. I don't remember him trying to be the all-time world's greatest light heavyweight or saying all his fights were going to be at light heavyweight. What are we talking about? He's a middlweight that won the linear light heavyweight title. What do you want? He can fight anyone he wants, any weight he wants. He's 113 years old.

    People actually care about P4P?

It's just a load of hypothetical bull**** that Ricky Hatton sold the Mayweather fight on, and for some reason it has escalated further.

It needs to stop, as does the Dr. Roach bull****!

Who gives a ****? Calzaghe was a great fighter at LHW and SMW. Far better than any of the current "rated 175 pounders" you're thinking of.

im not hating against hopkins, i rank him at top 30 ATG, other do not even have him in their top 35.

i never said that calzaghe is not a threat is just that hopkins is not fighting a rated 175 fighter for 3 years now.

Who are your top ten LHW fighters? Am interested to see who you would have been more impressed to see Hopkins fighting than Wright, Calzaghe and Pavlik....

Pavlik, Winky were both good fights for him at a catch weight. What the OP hasn't realised is that Hopkins was suppose to be retired 3 years ago. He hasn't been going around trying to dominate 175 like he did 160. At this stage of his career he has the luxury of waiting (despite being 40+) and picking his opponents. He don't even have to fight no-one no more.

Calzaghe has spent his whole career at a higher weight than Hopkins
