Lacy was a showtime fighter...... That is all that needs to be said. You euros do know what that means dont you?
Mosley vs Margarito was a good perfornmance aswell. Pretty much no one expected Mosley to win let alone K.O Margarito, i think i was literally the only person on this forum who predicted Mosley by K.O i even made a thread about it and got about 8 pages of abuse saying how stupid i am and that i will "eat my words"
To the sensitive lying ass europeans. Who was regarded higher during that time. Jermaine Taylor, Antonio Tarver, Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright or ................................Jeff Lacy. Who would of been favored to win at the time if they fought Jeff Lacy at his alledged peak. The answer is each and every fighter mentioned above. Nobody put their house on Jeff Lacy you lying backwards no comprehension having mother****ers. He was an exciting fighter in the sense that he got a lot of knockouts. He was a showtime fighter that has never even been on ppv. But somehow in your feeble mind you think he was some sort of American Superstar. Shut the **** up.
The fact is that Calzaghe was predicted to lose by many (>90%) of well respected boxing pundits the world over. Even in the UK, many said that he would lose. Yes, yes, I realise that after the fight poor old Lacy was just a 'bum'. The thing is, the completely shot Lacy (very serious shoulder injury and beatdown by JC) still gave Taylor some problems a long time after his fall from grace. The same Taylor that many on here believed (and probably still do) that would beat Calzaghe with room to spare!! It's damn laughable. I don't give a **** if certain individuals dislike the style, the 'CV' or even the personality of a boxer but let us at least be consistent! To some on here, fighters like Calzaghe, FMJ, Hopkins, etc, will never, ever get any credit. If it's not their style, it's the fighters that they've faced, or their big mouths or their haircut or their ugly girlfriend.....anything to avoid giving credit. I can't stand FMJ as a person (his media persona anyway) and I cannot wait to see him lose but I cannot deny how great he guy is at his craft....and 'at the end of the day' that is what it's all about. Respect.
Sorry. That was a little uncalled for. It's just that if you put the Lacy performance to the side for one minute, and take a look at other fights that have occured this decade, you'll quite easily find Calzaghe's display against poor Jeff is nothing special at all.
80% of people if not more had lacy to demolish calzaghe. that was the biggest shock in boxing in the last decade,as calz was past prime and put in an A class performance and made him look stupid. i am glad lacy came over as calz would of retired not known world wide if he hadn`t.
Man, even though we're ignoring the many bull**** from the Calzaghe fans it's getting out of hand. Guys, we know you have no one to talk about so you're hugging the two major wins in Calzaghe's entire career so hard you're making it look like two fights = Ali's entire career or something. We know you guys are hurt in the ass and bad, who else will you talk about?. Hatton?, Khanrofl)?, Witter?, Tyson Fury? We know the issue here and we know Calzaghe was overlooked going in against Lacy. You know why he was overlooked?, for making a career fighting nobodies and never thought about unifying, that's why. So cut the crap, Pacman/Hatton is a FAR better performance than Calzaghe ever saw(unless you're desperate to bring in the Manfredo win ) and I hardly see enough Pinoy fans shitting on everyone about that performance or Pac/Barreara, Pac/Morales...etc Pac's career is packed with wins, Calzaghe has two to brag about, end of discussion and please end those laughable Calzaghe "WOW PERFORMANCE" wins. Yeah, like when he said it's nonsense to move to America as the delusional unknown "champion" for Jones but it made sense to do so and pack his lineal title when Jones was shot for nearly 7 years.
I'm not saying that this win is the most significant of the decade or anything like that. I was trying to make a point as to how a fighter made a statement. A lot of boxing writers, fans, etc. picked Lacy to beat Calzaghe... at least here in America. A lot of American fans thought Calzaghe was a joke and he answered them with this performance. Even if Lacy was a joke, no one expected this beat down to occur
It was the most surprising domination, but only if you were like most of America who knew next to nothing about Joe pre-Lacy.
