Hey good spot, your right Cortez sneezed on the floor and made Hatton slip into that Check Hook which caused the first knock down.

Mate if you Pause it just before Floyd lands the punch you can see Cortez giving Roger Mayweather the thumbs up!!!!

Cortez ****ed up the early rounds for Hatton which led to his frustration, even then he was in the fight for the first 5-6 rounds

He would have done a slightly better but still lost with better refereeing.

Cortez did his ****ing job. Hey british boxing fans....that **** Hatton was doing on the UK. That aint boxing. Clinching and not punching requires a break. Hatton was never in the fight. Ever, he was just hanging around buying time holding and mauling.

Mayweather was a different class although Cortez definitely affected things.

The 1 point deduction for Hatton doing what exactly? :huh

Without Cortez ****ing up it would still have resulted in a Mayweather win but more likely a UD as Hatton lost his head after that point reduction and played right into Floyd's hands.

Hatton got deducted a point for blatantly rabbit punching.

He didn't make contact when he had Mayweather over the ropes which is what he was deducted a point for.

We saw he didn't make contact on TV.

I don't think Joe Cortez did, but even if he did, it's still worth a point deduction, he was blatantly trying to rabbit punch Mayweather. Mayweather was already turned before he threw the punch directly at the back of Mayweather's head.

i STILL think hatton was in it points wise but in reality it was only a matter of time before mayweather figured him out. i'd say hatton could have taken either 2 or 3 of the first six. after that it was all mayweather. hatton did the best he would ever do and it was a commendable effort: he kept in it through a combination of skills and MOSTLY will. he was out of his league but was so determined he bought some rounds, and as stated, time.

Ok maybe I remember it wrong but I seem to recall Hatton pulling back from the punch VERY early. I think the thought maybe went through his mind but he quickly thought better about it. Point deduction was harsh in my opinion.

Are you for real? Hindsight is wonderful thing, but I said all along Hatton wasn't in the same class as Floyd! I'm a big Hatton fan but not once during the build-up or any time during the bout did I think he would win!

Mayweather is the faster, sharper guy. People can moan about Cortez all they want, but Floyd started landing shots early on. That has nothing to do with Cortez & everything to do with Hatton's defense not being up to scratch!

I don't get the argument of people saying Joe Cortez did not allow Hatton to fight on the inside? Ricky even stated himself that Floyd surprised him with a few tricks of his own on the inside, so it was not a case of Ricky was going to win if it was infighting all the time!

You need to re-watch it then because it was clearly blatant and Hatton knew what he was doing.

He turned his ass to Mayweather in the center of the ring claiming Mayweather turned on purpose but he didn't. It's clear as day what really happened.
