A rematch with Hoffman does nothing for Botha's career at this point unless the goal is just to get paid. More interesting and better fights for his career could be made with Mercer, Bowe, and probably even Holyfield. If he beats Hoffman he is not proving much, but if he loses he then the recent credibility he has built up is gone.
The fight is now on boxrec. He is fighting Willie Fischer? German number nine and once challenger to Herbi Hide?? Thoughts anyone?
I didn't even know that Willi the Ox was still active. I see that Botha's taking the German route in moving up in the rankings. It's kind of like Selcuk Aydin taking the Belgian route by beating Oauli and Bonsu consecutively. Anyway, Botha should win this as Fischer loses everytime he steps up in class.
Sorry mate i am unfamiliar with this route? i hope it is an easy one! He could do with a knock out mind you? is this possible do you think cruiser? And will this put him on his way?
I was just saying that Botha is fighting his second German opponent in a row. Hence, the German route. Can Botha stop Fischer? I suppose he could if the opening presented itself but Willi's only been stopped once in his career and that was against the Herbie Hide who we all know can crack. The safe pick is Botha by decision and to answer your second question, I don't think it will really do much for Botha as far as rankings are concerned but it certainy won't hurt him. It would be a win over a guy with some name recognition in Europe if nowhere else.
I hope it goes to plan. Points decision would be good for him but think he does need a knockout for a real result. But we will see. And if he gets himself into proper shape like i keep saying i think he really could cause some good fighters problems. But we will see. I look foward to octbober. Go Botha!!!!!!!!!
I know that Rahman will never take the fight, but I would love to see Botha as his opponent on the Tua/Cameron undercard.
