People act like Floyd Mayweather is this SHAQ-LIKE MONSTER of a man. As if he is going to CRUSH AND DESTROY Marquez with TANK-LIKE POWER AND STRENGTH. Floyd will Beat Marquez the exact same way if this fight was at 130lbs, 135lbs, 140lbs or 147lbs. FLOYD WILL OUT-THINK MARQUEZ, OUT-SMART MARQUEZ, WITH MORE SPEED AND BETTER DEFENSE. It Has Nothing to do with Size, Strength and Power. Can anyone name a fight where Floyd used Strength and Power to win a fight??? Whats Amazingly funny, Is that Marquez is Stronger, bigger, and thicker than Manny...But everyone believes JMM vs Floyd is a MIS-MATCH....Yet everyone thinks Manny will beat Floyd!!! LISTEN...I SAID IT LAST YEAR...AND I AM SAYING IT AGAIN... PACMAN WILL BE FLOYD'S EASIEST FIGHT. A short lefty, that comes straight at you, swinging wildy and leaving himself WIDE-OPEN against the Quickest and Most Accurate Hands in the Sport. Floyd rarely has KO's or TKO's early...Because he is a such a patient fighter...But Against Pacman....TKO within 5.....WRITE DOWN!!!! TRUST ME!!!!
Juan Manuel Marquez has never fought above 135lbs in his life, whereas Mayweather has been up at 154lbs in the past. on that basis alone, Mayweather is at slight advantage where the weight is concerned in my estimation. That is why people are making an issue out of the 144lbs limit. I think Floyd would dispose of Manny Pacquiao as well as Juan Manuel Marquez. He should be hunting down the Welterweights; namely Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto. He was never the legitimate champion at Welterweight in my eyes, but here is his chance to capture that crown. Beating either Mosley or Cotto will be a tougher task than taking out Carlos Baldomir or Ricky Hatton, I can guarantee that.
i don't believe mayweather will have a picnic when he fight pacman... if you are sure he can KO pacman...i think pacman can KO him too...
PBF will ask for more than the lions share in this one, he will ask for a country to make this fight impossible:deal
Pacquiao will beat Floyd. Floyd has been tagged by left hands from southpaws who aren't a fraction of the fighter that Pacquiao is. His whole defensive style is useless against southpaws and he usually ends up changing it up and keeping his hands up like a more conventional fighter. Pac is too fast and moves too well. JMM is a great fighter who's style can trouble Pac, but he is no Manny Pacquiao. It isn't JMM who beat the crap out of Oscar de la Hoya and stopped him at 147 and it isn't JMM who KTFO Hatton in two rounds at 140. Imagine if Mosley, Cotto, Berto, or Clottey fought JMM? It would be a mismatch. Even though he is better than those guys p4p he would still get his butt kicked.
Just as I thought your talking about Marquez in his fight w/ Floyd. What has Pac got to do w/ the fight? The last time I checked he will be fighting a fighter Floyd has been ducking. Pac has fought in 140 and 147 and has shown that he did not lose his speed and power. Marquez has fought in 140-144 yet. Nothing to base our conclusion on how he can carry his speed and strength at an advanced age of 36.
Every professional prize fighter on the planet is going to get hit at one point. There is a video of Jones Jr being put on his ass by a C level fighter on youtube. This is a physical sport it happens. However, to counteract your point, not only does Floyd Mayweather Jr display better defensive capabilities than Manny Pacquiao, but Manny has been tagged on many occasions himself - all by fighters less skilled than Floyd Mayweather Jr. If you're implying Floyd Mayweather Jr has trouble with southpaws, his record holds no evidence of that claim. If you could elaborate? I think Floyd Mayweather Jr has superior balance and footwork to Manny Pacquiao, and I think his speed is at least on par if not superior. There's inches in it regarding speed, but Floyd has seen speed like that before in Zab Judah. Who has Manny fought who is on the same level in terms of handspeed as a Zab Judah or Mayweather? True. I think Juan Manuel Marquez is a better fighter than Pacquiao. He's technically more profecient, throws straighter shots, and is an excellent counterpuncher - but has also shown he can work effectively on the fronfront over recent times. I felt Juan won both fights - I am not alone in this belief - so yes, you're correct. Manny Pacquiao is no Juan, and Juan is no Manny Pacquiao. The Hatton fight was a very impressive display, but I always say that Oscar was a dead man that night st 147lbs. I think Juan does the same thing to that Oscar, but because he is more patient, it'd probably go on a while longer. Regarding Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao essentially got to Floyd's left overs, but it was a very impressive display. No comparison to be made though, Floyd outclassed Hatton when they foguht - Hatton is no Mayweather. i think Mayweather would clean Pacquiao's clocks, personally. He has fought at higher weights than Manny, and his technically sound style would find openings in Manny's sometimes sloppy offensive arsenal. It'd be interesting early, but I wouldn't rule out a late stoppage in favor of Mayweather Jr. It's all speculation, but that's where I Stand. No fighter in or around 147lbs beats Mayweather. Imo.
why do some posters start a sentence normally and then SUDDENLY SWITCH TO CAPS LOCK as if it in some way MAKES THEIR POINT MORE WORTHWHILE Im really not sure about it AT ALL
Are these the same people who mocked anyone who thought Pacquiao (who had never fought above 135lbs and only once above 130) had the slightest chance against De La Hoya (who had won titles at 154 and 160)?
The only people who gave Manny Pacquiao much of a chance against 147lbs Oscar De La Hoya were the illogical *******s. They had no reasoning to their argument, they picked Manny purely on the basis that they are obsessed with the man. It doesn't make them any wiser than the rest of us. I think that fight should have been a mismatch, and indeed would have been if the Oscar De La Hoya that we all knew turned up to the fight. I have no agenda. I call it how I see it - Manny Pacquiao cleaned up a good version of Ricky Hatton in double quick time - but he never fought even a half decent Oscar in the ring. That's what I percieve to be the truth. We could all be turning around in a month's time saying the lay off really deteriated Floyd's skills. We could be making similar excuses - but I really don't see it happening. Oscar had lost multiple times in his career when Manny Pacquiao turned up - Floyd is still invunerable to many - and it would take a special fighter, like Juan Manuel Marquez, to beat him. That said, I find the size to much to overcome - and I still feel Mayweather is superior in crucial areas. The smart money is on Mayweather Jr.
And beating Mayweather would be a tougher task than Manny beating Cotto, Margarito or Clottey I can assure you that:good
I think Marquez has shown in his last few outings that he can fight effectively on the front foot, and take his opponents out. Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor were both accomplished fighters, previously never stopped in their professional career before they ran into Juan Manuel Marquez. I think Pacquiao's more aggressive style would only hurt him against the patience of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Marquez has been the biggest trouble for Manny, and in Mayweather, you have an equally excellent counterpuncher with faster hands who is naturally bigger. Work it out. Styles make fights.
Absolutely. I am not hating on Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is the best fighter in the world in my estimation, he just needs to make it official by beating the best now.
