Pretty much. I don't understand what the big issue with Fedor fighting Rogers is, his record is almost a carbon copy of Carwins and nobody is getting all up tight about Lesnar fighting him.
I think because Lesnar is still an unknown quantity but Fedor isn't. Fedor's legacy is set in stone, Lesnar's entire legacy could fall apart still.
could, but i seriously doubt it the guy is green, and already has wins over couture, herring and mir he's got one hell of a career lined up
You guys are taking this all wrong. I am not bashing Fedor for fighting Rogers. It's just sad to see the best heavyweight in the world and possibly the greatest MMA fighter of all time stuck in an organization where this is the best fight for him. Fedor is above a fight with Brett Rogers. Yeah, Brett Rogers hits hard... so? It's silly to act like this is some sort of extremely interesting match-up just because Rogers hits hard. Maybe if Rogers had unparralled takedown defense to go along with it. Yet, he was taken down a couple times within the first few minutes against James Thompson when they fought... before Thompson does what he does best and got knocked out again (9 times now). Hitting hard doesn't make you a great fighter, and it sure as hell doesn't make you a serious threat to the best MMA fighter in the world. His punching technique and accuracy isn't even good... and he's slow. His experience level or pedigree in any particalar fighting art, let alone MMA itself is severely lacking. On top of all that, he has fought a who's who of sloppy tomato cans with a damaged and fragile Arlovski (6th time that he has been knocked out) being the feather in his cap. If I can see plain as day that if you keep Rogers moving his striking is weak, then I am sure as hell that Fedor sees it. Let alone the fact that I have never seen any of his opponents have trouble closing the distance on Rogers... what do you think will happen once Fedor closes the distance? I love Fedor, he is a great fighter. He is also above fighting Rogers and it's sad to see a fight like this being what people are looking forward to for him. Of course I will watch it,, and any fight is just a fight in the end where anything can happen... but we can also be realistic.
Takeaway Brocks size and athleticism and what is he? Just another wrestler.. If your going to critique Rogers then the same has to be said of Lesnar who has had half as many fights as Rogers. If Rogers was in the UFC guys would be singing a diffrent tune. Theres is absolutely nothing wrong with Rogers as an opponent and equally nothing wrong with Lesnar as an opponent for Fedor. Both have distinct limitations but both have great advantages in size and power over Fedor. Skills of course pay the bills but this is MMA..
If Rogers was in the UFC, he would have already lost. That's the reality of the situation. Why do you make everything a UFC issue? If a fighter is good or great... then that is what he is, I don't give a **** where he fights. Fedor is a great fighter, he has never fought in the UFC.... you aren't making any sense with all that nonsense. Also, why the hell would we take away Brock's size and athleticism? What the hell kind of statement is that? Ok... take away Cro-Cops Kickboxing abilities... what are you left with? Take away Fedor's hips... is he now the same fighter? That's silly. Yes, Brock has half the fights of Rogers... yet his competition level is head and shoulders above him. The fact that Brock only has 4 fights in the UFC, and they are against Mir twice, Herring, and Couture is ****ing amazing if you ask me. For a man to be that inexperienced in MMA and to be able to cross over from being just a great wrestler to beating top level MMA guys with no MMA experience other than training is a great accomplishment. What you fail to admit is that Brock's well established wrestling history is also experience... which is why he was able to cross over and be as successful as he is. Let alone the fact that he is huge, powerful, and fast. Those are all attributes that he has... what sense does it make to take them away and then ask what's left? Personally, I don't think that Lesnar is ready for Fedor either. However, with his backround, experience, and success in wrestling... coupled with the fact that he already has wins over Mir, Herring, and Couture, and is the UFC Heavyweight Champion.... Lesnar is obviously a more interesting match-up, and a more legit threat to Fedor.
The Flobbery Fish incident Yeah what youre saying Widow i agree with, i think most of us do. Fedor's too good to be fighting this guy. Brock's pretty much the only fight out there for him
I think the main issue is that Fedor seems to have to be the one going looking for Lesnar, Fedor needs Lesnar less than the other way around. Its like Arum not putting up for Pac vs X 140lb belt holder from GBP, does that mean that Pac should leave and go over to GBP despite his loyalty to Arum and the fact he is champ?
Well... I guess that neither actually need each other. Lesnar will continue to get rich and even more famous in the UFC, and I am sure that Fedor won't be filing for bankruptcy anytime soon and will always have people claiming he is the best. What it comes down to for me is that I think it's a shame that M-1 Global is keeping Fedor from seizing the moment that is out there for him. Fedor could be making more money, becoming more famous, cementing his legacy even further, fight much better competition, and have much greater exposure to the viewing public if he was in the UFC. That would be great for Fedor, and great for the fans. The only thing standing in the way is that piece of **** excuse for a company M-1 Global. The parasite that seems to spell doom for any organization that comes to a Co-Promotion agreement with it.
It would be my prefrence to see Fedor in the UFC fighting Lesnar, but outwith Lesnar the 3 fights avalible for him in Strikefore assuming they are pretty decent and if they are done in the next year leaves him open to signing with the UFC. That would give him enough time to beat Lesnar and some others and retire before he starts to slip too badly.
I don't expect Lesnar to turn ****, especially considering he lost to Mir but didn't let them affect his psyche. He gave us the impression that he is a winner and hates to lose.
Dont blame M1, blame Fedor himself M1s rigid stance was already defined, didnt stop Emelianenko from signing with them. They're both to blame for Fedor Brock not happening Fedor doesnt seem to give a **** any more. Hes had a great career. Its annoying from a fans point of view, but its his decision. Fair dos to him
Honestly, I think I'd pick Ray Mercer over Rogers if pushed, so like eveyone said, Rogers basically has a punchers chance.
