I was wondering, if Wlad's out untill late 2010 with his injury will they strip him of his titles? I know he had untill Sept 13 to fight Povetkin but thats not happening so will he get his titles taken away since he won't be able to defend against Povetkin and any other mandatories?

Where did you hear he'd be out until late 2010? I thought he was supposed to be back early 2010 (but maybe I missed something).

I heard March 2010 for the next fight date.

From what I've been reading neither the IBF nor the WBO are willing to strip Wlad, they are pretty happy with him as champ.

The IBF september mandatory date was before Wlad's unfortunate injury, now they probably extended the deadline to allow him enough time to make the title defense.

He is very interested in fighting both Chambers and Povetkin, it should happen till June 2010.

Both of his mandatory challengers are happy to take a tune-up, none of them are complaining about the delay.

Povetkin initially backed out with an injury, than Teddy Atlas wanted one more tune up fight before they fought Wlad. If anything Povetkin risked losing his mandatory spot, and it's the reason or one of the reasons why Wlad will fight Chambers first. As far as Chambers goes, Wlad can fight him anytime next year-it won't be an issue.

Wladimir is ready to Chambers this year, the problem isn't Wlad's injury, the problem is that HBO doesn't want to broadcast Chambers vs Wlad in December. Wlad wants the fight to at least be picked by an American network whether be Showtime, ESPN, or VS. But Wladimir has a contract with HBO.

That was a hoax (or wishful thinking) generated by a Russian news agency and picked up by some others.
Somebody said something along the lines of "Wlad can't fight Kotletkin ("cutlet" pun:) before mandatory deadline" and they blew out with banners "Wlad is being stripped!"

They'd have to be absolutely stupid to strip Wlad of any of his titles. Not that stupidity has stopped boxing orgs before, but still...

If the IBF stripped Isreal Vazquez sof some dumb reason (I think Vazquez is who I'm thinking of) why wouldent they strip Wlad?
Also there was the WBC (I know he doesnt hold that title) stripping Vernon Forest for having an injury and not fighting a mandatory.
