What do you mean "lineal" but not "linear"?

Erdei beat the man who beat the man, but he isnt reconginzed as undisputed.

Undisputed does not necessarily mean linear though so Erdei is the linear champ of the LHW division

Bad choice of word for undisputed then.

Linear is recognized champ of the division. Erdei certainly isnt the recognized champ of the division.

    Diamond belt, obviously.

But seriously, the "Lineal champ" nowadays may very well not have a belt at all, since 5 years ago it was stripped from fighter A who lost to fighter B who lost to fighter C etc. He's not gonna get any particular recognition from anyone except boxing nuts.

But with an ABC trinket people will perceive him as respectable and he can make some serious cash by pretending he's legitimate (and its all about the perception).

So basically you're choosing between an enhanced legacy, and the ability to make easy money, I wouldn't blame young fighters for preferring the cash.

Well then that depends on one's opinion. Did you consider George Foreman "recognized" champ when he got stripped of the WBA and IBF belts, as there were other title-holders in the division such as Bowe (WBO), Lewis (WBC), Tyson(WBC, then WBA), and Holyfield (WBA)? Because he was linear champ from 1994-1997.

Linear or ABC... the title is only as good as the champ. And a good champ defends his belt successfully.

Example: at LW, Casamayor was the linear LW champ (although he lost to Santa Cruz), but Diaz had more belts and had defeated more top contenders.
