I wrote this to show how easy it is to pick either fighter come November. Go Cotto! 10 - Don't count on Cotto being damged goods. People - including Freddie Roach said the same about Hopkins before he whupped Kelly Pavlik. People thought it was over for Mosley, yet look what he did to Margarito. Sure, Cotto didn't look great against Clottey, but for someone who was supposedly "shot", he held up pretty well against a dangerous, much avoided fighter who re-hydrated to 168 pounds. 9 - Pacquiao better start training. This is the biggest challenge of his life. He is fighting someone stronger a bigger than he has ever fought. Cotto isn't the type of guy who you train 8 weeks for. Manny needs to stop making movies and get his ass in the gym, because the only way he will beat Cotto is with a game plan, like he had against De La Hoya, only this time, he will have to exectute it almost flawlessly. 8 - Speaking of Oscar, who was supposedly a zombie when he fought Pac, took an ass kicking, but he didn't get knocked down, or even knocked silly. Oscar even brushed off Pacquiao's punching power. Why would he say the guy couldn't hit if he thought he couldn't? Oscar is a promoter, and if he thought Pac could punch, I sure he would have said so. 7 - Roach in his heart of hearts, wanted this fight to be at 143, but because of greed and pressure put on by Bob Arum, was forced to fight at a much dangerous weight. Roahc knows this will be quite a task for Manny, which is probably why he has publicly complained about the training situation. 6 - Manny could have fought someone else besides Cotto. They didn't have to pick someone so dangerous, but they did, because after a string of big wins, suddenly Pacquiao is Superman. Pac could have fought Tim Bradley, Edwin Valero, and even Micheal Katsidis, but Cotto was chosen because of money. Go Pacquiao! 5 - Stop using the "Margarito had loaded gloves" excuse as to why Cotto lost. Margarito walked through everything Cotto threw as if he had plaster on his face. Nobody can prove Margarito did anything fishy that fight, and the point is moot, because like I said, despite what he may have had in his gloves, he still took many shots from Cotto, and kept coming forward. 4 - Pacquiao has suprised us before. Many people thought he was biting off more than he could chew against De La Hoya. Many people thought Hatton would wear him down, but he proved everyone wrong. 3 - Pacquiao has a excellent chance of winning if he uses the same dart in, throw punches, jump back out strategy against Cotto as he did against De La Hoya. Cotto may not wilt as easily, but if Manny can do this successfully, his face might end up being beaten into a pulp. 2 - A panel of 26 experts predicted a winner, and every single one picked Pacquiao. This was a panel with some well known writers, trainers, and fighters - guys who know more about boxing than most of us do. How can 26 guys be wrong? 1 - It is Pacquiao's time. People are saying that he his biting off more than he can chew, that this will be his downfall, but who is to say? Maybe he truly is at a point in his career where he is invincible. All good things must come to an end, but perhaps it just isn't time yet!
I haven't decided yet. If someone put a gun to my head as of right now, I'd pick Cotto simply because of size, But when they start showing 24/7, I'll make a final decision.
I don't get this "shot", "his past it" after just a single loss. Cotto had a rough time with Clottley, because he was cut early, and clottley is one tough ****, but Cotto still managed to come out on top, even if was just marginal.
im picking pac... but im changing my predictions from early-to-mid-round-ko to UD. i'm not sure if he can catch cotto the same way he did hatton.
absolutely no way, cotto is usually composed and strong early on, plus he has some of the fundamentals of defense eg head movement, chin down and hands up at least
Cotto gets all the respect in the world from me - but i'm going with the favorite.....Cotto still fades after 9 or 10 rounds, and Manny is still a tornado in the later rounds. That's where this fight ends I think...
who in the world are these 26 writters that picked Pac???? Good arguements but Cotto takes this one not just on size but boxing avility , counter punching and ring leadership...
lol my bad.. a little typo error. actually, my prediction is "changed from early-to-mid roung-ko to ud". because the only way he can ko cotto IMO is to catch him like he did hatton. but given his skills and good chin, its less likely to happen. so i'm choosing UD.
another silly ass thread from a ****ing Newbie. have a nice day! if they put a gun to my head! Have some balls for crying out loud you say Cotto you'd pick but you sound like a ******* in disguise.
