Anyone boxing this afternoon/evening and if so who has the times! Just went over to aiba.org in time to see Egan thoroughly outboxed by the French lad 17 - 9
------------------- Egan was a bit sluggish and slow and the French guy outworked him. I think Kenny's day's at amateur level might have peaked and maybe he should try to reinvent himself.
well guys over all I'm a little dissappointed with the championships! Sutcliffe and Barnes look like they might be better off in the pro game. Egan does not appear hungry enough. I think the others will do well heading to London in 2012 but then again maybe I'm feeling pessemistic and over analysing it! thoughts!
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=696&more=1 just found this interview with Freddie Roach bout Dunne in february 04. some very high praise in it but looks like he forecasted him gettin knocked out for carrying his hands too low.
Didn't know Dunne boxed with Mosley before... "His thick skull"....Bernard must have annoyed Freddie.

I just noticed the Finn that Macklin is fighting for the Euro belt is ranked no.5 by the IBF. With Abraham now at SMW, the belt is vacant and a few could wins could push Macklin very high on the list. That said, his next fight will be very tough.
Don't think we can be too disappointed with one medal at the worlds, we haven't won many of them over the years. And Nevin's a great talent. But maybe our expectations are getting too high - and maybe some of the judges are getting a bit sick of Irish success. Overall, this could prove a good wake up call for the older lads and should be great experience for the newer ones - Gerraghty, O'Neill, McLaughlin etc. But I know what you mean, I have a feeling things are going a bit stale. That Gerry Storey interview about the lads being under too much pressure was interesting. I've seen Barnes and a few of the other lads around recently and they didn't look too happy. Looked a bit sullen and bored. Maybe that comes naturally with being in camp too much, but maybe they need to freshen things up. Pack them all off to Cuba for a year maybe?
Lads I think Egans days as a top class amateur could be over. He should of turned pro and made a few bob for himself, Im sure he wont medal at the next olympics. It just seems to me that he dosent have the drive in him anymore after getting that silver medal.
i think one medal is a success with three in total in the last eight, thats not to bad at all... considering our small population our nation is holding its own
