is there really any way that any of us can tell? I mean honestly we look at Ali, Louis, Patterson, and Robinson on face value its almost impossible to really get an upclose look at these guys due to the era of which they have come from.

when you really look at it and hear Floyd say it you might think he is just about 2 steps from the nut house. However the guys that Robinson louis Patterson fought you really dont know much about them and who they beat, and to be honest with you due to the racial tension during some of that time period you cant honestly say that so and so beat this fighter becuase alot of times the winner on the cards got the win based on his color of skin.

So to me when Floyd says that I guess he might actually be telling the truth there is no way for you and or I to go back to that time period and look at the guys Robinson beat, look at who they beat and say for sure weather or not Floyd is right.

I think its possible that Floyd is possibly correct in this aspect, and if Manny Pacquiao can beat Cotto and move no to beat Floyd, well bottom line he will be considered the greatest fighter that ever lived.....

in the words of Freddy Roach "its impossible to compair eras"

What kills me is what do you expect him to say? what do you want him to say when they ask? B/c they ask... they ask are you better then that this that and the third? He should respond.

Floyd: "Well Brian, I'm pretty damn good. I never came across a fighter in my life time that I thought was better then me. But i've seen the tapes of SRR, SRl, Ali and all the others you mention and the fact of the matter is no Brian Kenny...I'm not as good as them. They would probably knock me out if I went back in time and fought them."

Good point but its a typical response, I was just trying to look into it a bit further, for example when you look at Patterson he won some good fights big names but I am sure if you disect a bit of those names and look at who they beat if they beat so and so legit that is, the question is who did they really beat and what made those guys the guys to beat?

So in a sense he has a point, but I think its safe to say right now with Pacquiao in the mix and I am no *******, But I think Pacquiao is the fight that validates Floyd, or its the fight that Validates Pacquiao, we just dont know, all I know is that they must fight, Pacquiao is a rare fighter that only comes along once in a life time and Floyd well Floyd isnt far behind him, the two fighting each other would give us a fight that Boxing has never witnessed before and to me thats good for boxing.

Jesus stop with the ******* insanity.

Pacman will never be considered the best ever by any reputable boxing expert. The same goes for Floyd.

If Pac beats Floyd, Cotto, Mosley.

He should be considered the best ever. If not top 3 at least. You don't do what Pac has done and not been top 3 if not the best ever.

Same for Floyd if he beats Cotto, Mosley and Pac. People don't like him as much so he'll probably need a middleweight title for people to be happy.

Of course you can't be 100%. But you have to look at the other facts. Then there was only 1 world champion. They were fighting the top guys in their respective divisions. Now you can hold one of five belts(I'm including the ring) and be called world champion. All I'm saying is when you were called champion then you really were a champ. Also when you fought number 1 contenders they usually paved a road to get that shot. These guys had to fight the best in their division because their was only one title to chase. It will take alot for current fighters to be considered high in the ATG rankings.

As good as Floyd is he hasn't cleared a division besides 130.

How did Patterson get thrown in there?

Although he was an excellent fighter in his own right (especially considering his size), he seems out of place when you're mentioning him with the two greatest HWs ever, and the consensus #1 p4p fighter.
