When you said about getting "way overrated" here, I thought about Calzaghe rather than about GMAN. Anyway, if we are talking about "big holes defensively", it is good to keep in mind that every time Calzaghe fought an ATG fighter (BTW, it is not my fault it was only twice, and both of them were past prime), he was down in no time.

Sure, he showed good recuperative powers, but if shot RJJ and old Hopkins had no trouble to put him down, I have little doubt prime GMAN would keep him there.

Nigel Benn survived Gman, but was stopped by Eubank and Watson. Nigel Benn wasn't at his best at that time. Benn was seen as having a vulnerable chin at middleweight let alone 168lbs.
Gman had extreme power at 160lbs, but in the trip to 168lbs it could be argued his power would be less effective. Calzaghe was a career supermiddleweight, and a big one with a known solid chin.
Benn took a load of shots flush from Gman, so why on earth do you assume someone who could not knock out a former middleweight (who was stopped by a jab from Michael Watson) could knock out the granite chinned Calzaghe?

Granite Chinned Calzaghe? no , he is in great shape... but a 43 yr old Hopkins put him on his rear and so did a well past prime RJJ. I would agree that Calzaghe has a solid chin, and that he has good recovery. But even the brain damaged version of GMAN that Benn Survived from (barely, many refs would have stopped the fight both times benn was hurt) would have been the best puncher Calzaghe had ever faced.

kinda disagree. he was draining himself to make 160. 168 he woulda been more comfortable....anyhow he basically had Benn out of there in round 1. An exceptional set of circumstances then occured and honestly only Nigel Benn could survive it seemd anyway. Incredible bravery and heart

That video tells me Gman was a great offensive fighter, with no defence.
He defeated a great light middleweight in Jackson.

Benn had balls to get in the ring with him.

He was there to be hit and Benn survived the onslaught and came on strong.

Very exciting fighter, can he be compared to what Miranda was doing a few years ago?

yes the question should be ... " what would g-man have doene after joe Calzaghe embarraseed his ass." as G-man at 168 was far from the promising skilled prospect he was under Steward's tutalge. G-man was not a monster at 168. JOe beats the **** out of him. JUst a better fight and proven at the world clsass against fighter his size or bigger.
