From the news with the fight: According to all the internet websites, Im weighing upwards of 280 (pounds) or something like that. You know what; right now I weigh in the low 260s. Come fight time, Im probably going to be 200 pounds (joking).
There were fALSE reports he got down to 225, and someone said he was still fat. So he's basically backing the version where he IS NOT IN SHAPE!
He admits he weights 260-265? NOW? 2 weeks from fight night? So when he is going to take up conditioning? LOL
The low 260's!? Holy ****! And so close to fight time? What a disgrace. :-( Now I really do hope you lose you fat, lazy sack of ****.
This guy made his debut at 236. He was still in the 230s when he fought Witherspoon just a few fights ago. He was 258 for his last fight with McCline. He's probably going to be in the 250s for Vitali too. He doesn't deserve to get in the ring with Vitali let alone win. This is why so many people want nothing out of the HW division. Because so many of these guys take no max weight limit to mean that they don't have to be in shape. It's disgraceful. Guys like the K brothers though are always in impeccable shape. That's respectful of the sport and your opponents and the fans. I wish there were more of that. Old Holyfield can't hardly put up a decent punch output anymore and he still comes in looking the part. Like he actually cares, because he does. Arreola? I don't know if he just doesn't care or if he does care but has an eating disorder.
Arreola's best chance would have been to improve his movement and speed and count on Vitali getting older and having lost some speed and mobility. Vitali goes into his training camp in good basic shape and can fully use camp to fine tune his fighting. Arreola need much of his camp to go from obese to just a little overweight. His body needs time to adapt to the lower weight, because it has compensated in its movements for the excess weight before. His timing and accuracy will most likely be affected by that. He may feel confident during camp and brush off concerns about his weight, telling himself that being in the low 260's now is OK. Then he will enter the ring and see a 6'8 opponent in peak condition with a facial expression of a psycho who was just released from solitary confinement. If in the first two rounds he realizes that Vitali is harder to hit than expected(which pretty much all of Vitali's opponents except perhapos Lennox realiezd) where will the confidence come from that he can turn things around? He will know in the back of his mind that he should have trained harder and that he won't outlast Vitali who did train as hard as he should have.
Geez. Talk about using that term loosely. And they should've stopped the title of that article right there.
Not surprised at all, I think that's what quite a few people were expecting. And I expect him to lose some of that. But I still reckon anything south of 245 at best would be a shock. Bottom line, way too heavy. Love that 'reasonably fit' line.
Apparently, the finished thought is "reasonably fit for a guy that weighed 290 6 weeks ago", as opposed to "reasonably fit for a guy about to fight for a HW belt". I remember how ludicrous I thought Merchant's fawning was after the McCline fight. It'll be interesting to hear his take on this one. See if he resurects the "whale" line.
