Will Chad Dawson one day be as great as Joe Calzaghe?

    The end of what? Not this argument. The TS posted a question about Dawson reaching Calzaghe's level. The fact is that Dawson's resume is much better at this stage of his career compared to where Calzaghe was in his.

    Tarver = has been/never was
    Johnson = Journeyman

    Wrong.
    Maybe Calzaghe should have beat up on that lil hype job OLDH to get recognition from Ameribum fans, it worked for Hopkins picking on inferior smaller boxers.

    The end.

    You forgot Adamek, who is the best CW at present. Let me ask you this, who had Calzaghe beaten at the same stage in his career besides an old, weight-drained Eubank? Name a fighter that was even close to the current incarnations of Johnson and Tarver that Calzaghe beat at Dawson's age. I'll be waiting.

    BTW if you want to hype up Joe Calzaghe, you really shouldn't try to tear down the resume of the best fighter on his record in the process.

    He's good but I really cant see him being an ATG. Calzaghe is certainly an ATG only yanky haters fail to recognise a world champ that ruled unbeaten for over 10 years. Thats something Dawson will never accomplish.

    I dont understand how people on here can rate that oscar winning actor B-Hops and give JC no recognition when he beat him. This is hating through n through. I think the term "bad loser" is most apt here.

    lol at fans complaining that Dawson fights only old timers, currently the old timers are the best competition for Dawson right now. Dawson is just trying to get rid of them. But don't worry Dawson will fight all the up and coming talents after he beats Glen Johnson.

    I favor Dawson to beat Tavoris Cloud, Jean Pascal, Adrian Diaconu, Nathan Cleverly, Gabriel Campillo, Karo Murat, and Beibut Shumenov.

    Dawson is a gifted boxer and I like his style. However he already got a real gift decision against Johnson. Calzaghe dominated the Johnson - level opponents throughout his career. While his fight with Reid was close, it was still a rightful win. Calzaghe's dominance and ability to always find a way to win will be hard for Dawson or anyone else to exceed.

    People are critical because he was the WBOgus champ for most of that reign and most of his title defenses were rubbish. Artur Grigorian had a similar streak to Calzaghe's with the WBO LW title during pretty much the same time period. Does his record make him an ATG in your eyes as well?

    bull****.:lol:

    Any body who thinks Dawsons resume atm is good is smoking some seriously weird ****. Even at the same stage as dawson is now calzaghes was pretty similar with reid,eubank,Brew, Mitchell etc! Tarver and Johnson are still good fighters but not at their best and many people think Johnson won! Adamek has never beaten an elite fighter and looks slow and very beatable. kessler has not beaten a true elite fighter either, but anybody with any knowledge of boxing knows Kessler P4P is far more skilled than adamek. Chad needs some seriously big wins to even be in contention! he needs to school an upcoming lion who is expected to knock him out cold(lacy) unify the world titles against the other best fighter in his division (kessler) and beat up some other elites (Hopkins etc) and, defend a title for 10 years!!!!! Anybody who thinks Chad is ahead of Joe and faced better opposition already is simply a hater. Chad could, however, become as great one day, the potential is there.

    lol weight drained Adamek, hardly in the same category as Skilled world class Eubank.

    Besides, Dawson ducked Calzaghe, so why is this comparrison here? Dawson was prime, Calzaghe shot, and before Calzaghe is due to make a decision on his retirement, Dawson quickly arranges a match against Tarver to force Joes hand.

    "he would be called Calzakins"

    You need to stop digging through his garbage. He certainly doesn't need any more stalkers peering in his windows. Maybe "Anglosaxon" can share one of Joe's old jocks so you can get a good sniff.

    Dawson must have loved the super 6, all those prime boxers tied up for 2 years, all a legitimate danger to him, now not a threat.

    Funny thing is, if he fought RJJ he'd lose.

    Fact.
