Who Took More Risk...Oscar De La Hoya or Felix Trinidad???

Dude again MAYORGA WAS NOT IN HIS PRIME WHEN HE FOUGHT TRINIDAD AT 160 POUNDS!!! Before that fight happen, Mayorga fought a bum fighter name Eric Mitchell at 155 pounds in which is like a catchweight but Mayorga couldn't even stop Mitchell who's record is 16 wins with 3 losses. <<<<<<Did that look like a prime Mayorga to you???????? Mayorga prime was at 147 pounds but if you don't think so then something is wrong with you.

Both men were two of the greatest fighters of the second half of the 90's era who fought anyone and everyone they could.

 

I don't think it was a big risk cause Mayorga proved in the Mitchell fight that he wasn't a big risk for Trinidad to make a comeback. It was an easy tune up for Trinidad.

But yeah, anybody who is'nt bias should call it even, both men took risks that are about equal, Oscar has fought more world class fighters but that's because he fought in more weight classes, but yeah this is even in my view.

 

Both took risks. But Oscar is the smarter man. For ****s sake Tito (natural welter or JR middleweight) fought Hopkins AND Roy Jones!! He knows no fear.

Both took risk. Honestly many can make a case that Trinidad took the bigger risk cause he fought Wright and Hopkins first but Oscar has fought Mosley in Mosley prime. Oscar has fought Quartey in Quartey prime. But again both took big risk in which you can't say bad thing about both of those fighters.

 

I aggree and I hold both equal in taking risks but I always seemed like Oscar was smarter about his.

 

I agree with the overwhelming sentiment of the responses to the Thread....BOTH MEN TOOK RISK.

But this is why I believe Tito took more risk.

Of their "Prime Common" opponents (I don't count Whitaker)....Tito fought them FIRST and risked his undefeated record.

Fought Oba Carr 5 years before than Oscar
Fought Vargas 2 years before than Oscar
But the Fight thats stands out to me...TITO FOUGHT HOPKINS IN '01 WHEN HOP WAS A BEAST!!!!!!!

After Vernon Forest and Winky Wright established themselves as TOP-SHELF fighters at 147-154lbs. I really thought Oscar would fight them...But it didn't happen. At least Tito fought Winky....and William Joppy who was a decent fighter...That Oscar did not fight. Also would have like to have seen Tito vs Mosley and Tito vs Forrest.

But IMO...Tito Edges Oscar in MORE RISK!!!
