Option 2 :Throw belt away to face ATG as it's your last chance before he retires and really make a massive name for yourself by doing something no one else could do, thus securing a name in history and massive pay days?

tarver is past his prime but never was and still is not a bum.
dawson did have to relinquish his WBC belt to face tarver and did relinquish his IBF belt to rematch johnson for no belt.

 

Chad Dawson could easily surpass Joe Slap. Hell he's already almost there. Adamek is a much superior fighter to Kessler. Tarver beat Roy Jones jr twice and Johnson into that and its very close. And whats Dawson 26?


This is America. You have to fight the best to be recognized. American fighters dont have paded records like the Brits.

 

Dawson only fights over the hill fighters and even struggles??? Calzaghe only fight bums and over the hill fighters!! and he struggled and lost to a past prime B-hop

Under Eddie Mustafa Muhammads tutelage Chad Dawson has improved. He's training at Johnny Toccos gym and has had some quality sparring partners, Andre Dirrell to name one.

You can see Eddie "Gregory" Mustafa Muhammad in Chad Dawson every time he steps in the ring.

Eddie Mustafa is a greater trainer than Floyd Sr. Actually, Floyd Sr was the one who made Chad go to Eddie, also Samuel Peter was desperately trying to have Eddie as his trainer but Eddie would not have someone who does not take his profession seriously.

He showed improvement over the course of both Tarver fights, but the Johnson fight seemed to be a bit of a regression from the way he had behaved in the ring previously - obviously against lesser opposition, but his fundamentals and focus seemed to suffer. Maybe I'm just not giving Glen enough credit. Haven't watched that one in a while.

 

At the young age of 27 he's almost for certain to past Joe Calzaghe in terms of legacy...There are alot of young prime guys hovering around that 168-175 range that I would make Dawson the odds on favorite against. He has all the tools to carve out a pretty substantive resume in the next couple years.
