Nono... Oscar may have been a bit hyped, but he was also a really good fighter.

The biggest hype jobs titles goes to these three:
    Lacy, McClellan and Bowe.

IMO the most overrated fighter of the past decade maybe even 15 years is the man from wales, Joe Calzaghe....i say overrated because for some reason he will be given ATG status for a guy that cherry-picked opponents and lived under a rock most of his carear....

who is the biggest hype job in the last 20 years? thread....

only one name comes to mind, not oscar de la hoya, but joe calzaghe....

LOL, yeah, unbeaten Joe Calzaghe, who beat a former World Champ witha broken hand, who KD Cast Iron Jawed Eubank, who mutilated RJJ and who out thought ATG Hopkins.....
    :patsch

    Epic Fail.

the guy that fought a past it eubank, never fought benn, fought a overrated jeff lacy, fought a past it hopkins and barely got a SD for his lack luster performance, and the guy that fought a past it jones after he wrote in his book he would never fight jones because he was shot.....

    that joe calzaghe?

    come again?

and for the record de la hoya shits all over calzaghe on the ATG lists...

Benn retired, Collins ducked Joe, Joe Ruined Lacy, Joe killed a prime p4p 3 Hopkins at his natrual weight and with Cortez backing him up, and he chased RJJ down for 10yrs, until RJJ ran out of bin men to fight.

Calzaghes record is far greater, by beating Hopkins, Calzaghe takes all of Hopkins scalps as his own, inc De La Hoya who was obliterated by a green Hopkins.

Why is it that English posters have the most profound stupidity raging throughout these boards...not all...but the clear highlight for epic fail threads are typically started by these English twats.

It MUST be the water :-:)huh

still doesnt change the fact hopkins was past it, look at hopkins in his tito performance and compare that to his oscar performance and then compare that to his calzaghe performance, the man was way past it......he went on to beat a smaller man in pavlik......who calzaghe declined to face, and instead cherry picked a shot jones.....

oscar cherry picked nobody, got robbed twice against tito and mosley 2.....revolutionized the ppv industry, and gave us the biggest financial event in the history of the sport, floyd-de la hoya.....not to mention being a 10X world champion, and 6 division champ.....

Past it? he was P4P ~3 and wanted no part of Joe in 2002, Joe offered Pavlik a fight, Pavlik refused.

he is a great promotor, but if you only just started watching boxing, which your comments suggest, you really have no place to weigh in with an opinion.

tszyu was also ranked p4p 3 when hatton fought him, and anybody with a brain knows tszyu was past it.....same principle with hopkins....

and check your history it was joe who was offered a choice to fight pavlik or jones.....and joe went for the money and less risk at the time, jones, after he said in his book he would never fight jones.....the man is a total hypocrite....

frank warren deserves an award for his management of calzaghe.....
