Lesnar is a former NCAA champion, what he did for money before MMA is irrelavent.

Chuck Liddell dominated for years, he isn't the first great fighter to lose their last few fights, happens in boxing all the time.

1.5 million people is not a cult, it's an army.

I've never seen a triangle choke, kimura or any number of MMA techniques in a street fight between people of no knowledge of fighting.

heres the thing though, they can say its bjj or another form of martial arts.....it still doesnt change the fact that it looks and appears like a street fight......and is marketed as a street fight.....the hardcore ufc fans know better.....but that is mma's ticket over boxing with "fight fans" is we represent real fighting.....the way dana attacked mayweather, who i'm not a fan of, made him look like an idiot, saying he runs, well the main problem i have with ufc is about 4 mins of a 5 minute round is some guy wraped around another guy not doing ****....if he wants to be critical of aspect of a paticular boxer then lets talk about how his boy gsp holds for about 4 mins of a round lots of times.....newsflash dana, i will take my chances with the guy that trys to hit and not get hit then the guy that holds and is wrapped around another man....

the ufc audience is most 18-30 years old....now i have read some posters who are morons saying its marketed to a all white crowd thats bull****....its just targeted at a younger audience altogether.....the problem with mma is will these fans stick around? i'm skeptical......now to the contrary boxing's problem is that it is a rather old crowd i would say 50+ make up the age of a hardcore boxing fan.....

Now my personal expierence, all my firends hate boxing of today, and love the mma......while i will talk to older people, and some will be like what's mma?

"looks and appears like a street fight" --> one won't appreciate something that he doesn't fully understand. it would be equal to a non-boxing fan that woul comment that boxing is a "savage form of entertainment w/ 2 guys punching each other" (sounds stupid eh?)

"marketed as street fight" --> IMO it is basically marketed as a sport where you pit fighters who practices different types of martial arts. only people who have seen this once or twice who quickly makes conclusions would think that this is marketed as street fight. if you will watch several fights in UFC, commentators will keep on mentioning the fighters specialty ( karate, bjj, wrestling, etc. ) and keep on mentioning the type of moves they are using and not just saying "he bashed his head, he is kicking his legs"...

about dana. well, he's a ***** so i dont give a damn on this one :smoke

"4 mins of a 5 minute round is some guy wraped around another guy not doing ****" --> if you know mma then you'd know that they're deffinitely "NOT" doing ****. i used to think that its lame to see a ground fight in mma but watching it through the years made me understand that it's sort of like a "chess match" between the fighters when theyre on the ground. one wrong move and you'd be at disadvantage and could end up getting subbed

"i will take my chances with the guy that trys to hit and not get hit then the guy that holds and is wrapped around another man...."
--> on what? on a real fight? i'd take my chances on gsp any given day if they get in a real fight. his slick punching won't do him **** once he gets caught by gsp and taken to the ground.

"...while i will talk to older people, and some will be like what's mma?"
--> mma is a relatively new combat-sport and it's not surprising that older people would know it at this point. you're comparing it to a sport which is been around for ages.

i admit kimbo was a hype that didnt materialize.. but no knowledgable mma fan would think that he was supposed to become the next big thing. he has nothing much to offer except for his average-striking skills. everyone knew that he have to learn more than that to make it big in mma.

brock lesnar FYI has amateur wresting background so if you're thinking that he was signed in UFC as a "circus freak" coz he came from wwe then you're wrong. and steroid use? don't play that card when some of boxings big names are also accused of using roids and doing **** to have e advantage (mosley and rjj are known to be accused of roids too, not that i am saying that its true coz i ain't sure. and dont forget margarito who packs brick on his gloves "litteraly"). i know lesnar used to mess with roids on his wwe days but it's obvious that he doesnt use it anymore based on his physique..

liddell is a skilled mma fighter who was dominant in 205 division for a long time. KTFO doesn't mean that you're a bum or anything. a number of great boxers also gets KTFO at some point in their career but is still considred great. btw, liddel is already old at that point so getting ko'd was not surprising at all.. it's not like ODLH quitting on his stool means he is not a good fighter, he got old, it's a natural thing in life. if i remember it right odlh was a local celebrity at one point when he was semi-retired, pac makes movies and tv shows, and pbf fought the big show... so whats wrong with liddell being on tv?

shamrock was good in his era... the style was flawed back then bat he was a decent fighter IMO. i think he retired from mma when he went to wwe and just came back after hes done with it.

Not a flame, but what is your source of reference that tells you those numbers are inflated?

If you know those numbers are incorrect then you must know the correct ones. I'm not doubting you. I'd just like to know your source for the actual PPV numbers.

I've been thinking the same thing. Who the **** are you to say those are wrong numbers? Besides don't television companies release those numbers and not UFC?
I'm sure if UFC says 1.7mil it's at least more than 1mil unless you take it with a whole shitload of salt. You can lie only so much, besides, it's not like they are not releasing the "bad" numbers either like UFC 93 or 96.

Yea... that'd be great grappling with no gnp and no choke holds. We'll see more of O'Brien vs Herring bull****. The sport gets **** as it is about wrestling holding people down and winning, eliminating submissions and punches on the ground would make it more exciting by making it more "civilized"...

It won't die but it's not as popular as it was 20 years ago. The heavyweight division is boxings bread and butter and as long as that sux boxing will continue to struggle.
