Well, I have to agree even though I really dislike DM.Given his wions against Hill,Griffin and Rocky DM had a right to dispute Jones claim as the number one guy. Never having fought DM hurts Jones his legacy.

That isnt what Im saying...I dont think that Jones needed to fight Dm to legitimize his reign, I think that he needed to fight him because he was for a time the second best lt heavyweight in the world.

Michalczewski and his people made a choice, and they picked fights with unknown no-hopers instead of fighting the guys he needed to fight in order to keep his titles. He knew going into the fight with Hill that the winner would have for fight DelValle instead he gave up the title and fought Nicky Piper. And for those that claim he was given only 90 days, well the truth is DM fought about 90 days later anyways. It wasnt the time frame, it was the fighter. Fighting Piper instead of Delvalle for the WBA was not noble, or brave it was crowardly. As far as the IBF title went, DM pretty much lost that belt in the courtroom, where William Guthrie who at the time was looking like a beast got a court ruling that keep DM from defending the title vs anyone that wasnt him. So the truth is this DM had a choose to make, he could fight Delvalle for the WBA and take a chance on being stripped of the IBF, or fight Guthrie for the IBF and take a chance on being stripped by the WBA..He picked option three, fight a bum and lose both titles. Its time that he got the blame for the things that he did.

I wouldnt say that Jones was handed the titles on a silver platter, the fact that the guys that he beat for those titles were a) winners against the fighters that beat DM b)fighters that DM clearly ducked c) pretty damn good fighters.

Yes DM was scared of Guthrie and Del Valle...2 B level fighters who never beat ANYBODY of note.

Polish Pummeler is clearly not objective and is DM's biggest cheer leader.

Then why not fight them???? Its really that simple. Its not like he didnt fight them to fight better fighters, he fought BUMS instead.

Oh im sorry i didnt realize Guthrie and Del Valle were attractive opponents. No better or no different then the weak WBO contenders he was already fighting.

Del Valle KD'd your boy...stop pumping him up to be anything more than a no name opponent.

Nothing to back it up???? DM fought like a week after Delvalle won the vacate title that DM give up not fight him..Check it out...

DM was stopped from defending the title vs anyone other then Guthrie...Its public record check it out...

Delvalle was paid step aside money so that Hill could defend his title vs DM...Once again check it out.

Its all backed up, and I have SEVERAL times posted links and articles to prove it. But this thing gets started back up about twice a year, and the same people that saw those links and articles keep saying the same thing, they act as if they never saw them...Its the truth and Im pretty sure that you know it...It keeps DM in the best possible light if it seems like he was just a bystander in this unjust stripping of HIS titles. But that isnt how it happened.

IIRC, The DM Hill fight happened a day or two before Jones fought an over the hill Mike McCallum to claim the interim WBC LHW title.

That said, DM and Hill were THE consensus #1 and #2 Light Heavys in the world.

DM won the fight and with that victory he becomes the man @ 175lbs.

Jones never beat DM - therefore his reign as "champion" @ 175lbs is illegitimate.

    1 + 1 = 2

I would not say that his reign was illegimate. You are going too far IMO as DM vacated those belts amd choose to keep the bogus WBO belt, obviously because Kohl had major control over that sanctioning body.

Nevertheless.Due to the Hill and Griffin victories m DM had a right to dispute Jones claim as the top guy and it hurts Jones legacy that he did not.I mean DM was like 45-0 and had beaten the in Hill the top guy of the division.
