First off...Im right there with ya...I want him out for the benefit of boxing because he's an awesome all action guy. But he did this to himself. He lost his right to protect himself with a gun when he pulled it on someone else to take their **** from them! But I have a problem sympathizing with him getting robbed at gun point. First off...what goes around comes around. Secondly, he was training in a crappy area? ... ok well... he was at a point in his life where he should have been looking out for himself (although this is probably easier to say now). He shouldnt have been in a ghetto area where he would get robbed.....OR if it did happen...then thats too bad for him. He should have let that one go, and made changes for it to not happen again (like change the area in which he trained at). The last thing he should have done was get a gun because....even if he did have to use it...wouldn't he still get in locked up for having one in his posession? And using it? So what if he saved his wallet and chain? He just made stupid descisions and now hes gonna have to live with them. The boxing community also suffers a loss too because it would be hard to find someone who didnt like who he was or how he fought inside the ring.
I like Kirkland as a fighter but let's face it, this isn't his first offense and he deserves to get punished for it, so he can learn from his mistakes and turn his life around. He needs to look at B-Hop for inspiration.
It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. In my young days I wouldn't go anywhere without my pistol because other fools had them and I wanted to be ready to protect myself if needed. It's a cold situation to be in but it's the reality of living in the hood and I wish James the best.
after HBO filmed an altercation between his trainer and the cops the cops bent the law by following him around everywhere he went
exactly.... many think it's easy to just turn your life around...but when that's all you know and boxing (fighting) is your way out, you still keep that ghetto way of thinking until you get a bit older (hopefully for some)....i really feel for james, he was a ****en monster
I didn't buy a gun until after the 1st time I got shot at and it wasn't to retaliate but to be able to defend myself if the situation called for it.
Not likely to happen my friend. Texas is the one state where you don't slip up in, cause right or wrong everybody knows they are going to throw the book at you.
I was 19 when I changed my life but it was only after facing life in prison that I opened my eyes to the bull**** that's going on that we allow ourselves to be involved in isn't worth it at all.
The thieves ran because Vernon had a gun. The problem was that like many warriors, Vernon also chased them down. Been several unarmed boxers murdered by jealous thugs trying to make a name. Heck some very smart people even suspect that Gatti and Argueo were murdered.
exactly... i was running dope even after having my family, but since i was so used to it (i had been slanging dope since 6th grade) i just kept on doing it.....if i would've got busted, it would've been sad cause i already had my career, kids and my own place....but since i was so used to it i just couldn't stop.....it took a long time for me to finally realize that i didnt have to run dope anymore......
I feel for your situation. Some have limited choice. Vernon would be alive if he had 'let it go' and let the police do their job.
If he hadnt had the gun they may have just shot Vernon and held his kid for ransom. You gonna wait for the cops when your kid's lives are in jeopardy???????????????????????
people dont think that way...and plus, everybody has a timeclock homie, if it's your time, then it's your time....plain and simple, nobody can prevent death...
