A million threads on the fight so here's a different take on it. It seems Fury will most certainly not be fighting for the Irish title in a few weeks now. This fight took a lot out of his system but at least Fury proved he could take some shots as well. IMO, McDermott was just a coulple of fights too soon and it was evident Fury wasn't comfortable with 10 rounds. So, with that in mind:

    What next for Fury?

A few more journeymen? An immediate rematch? The Irish Title after all? Something else?

    :good

theres no one one in the irsh heavy weight rankings that could give tyson fury much bother (excluding martin rogan) so a fight against another unbeaten fighter like Declan timlin would be good for him. and lok well on his record

I said during fight he needs more learning fights...during fight i was thinking this is step to far. He won and i'm happy....now maybe a rematch....i think he will use tonight to improve and i think he could do what Williams did to Mcdermott and make it easier on him self.

Learning and developing is the Key....he needs to work in gym for a while imo.

Get a trainer who will teach him to actually defend and not use his head to block shots. At least he showed he can take a punch.

I think that could well be the best the lesson Fury could get tonight. He was pushed very hard and now he's probably realised to himself that he can't knock everyone over. The post-fight interview was a little disrespectful considering how close the fight was; I thought McDermott did enough to win but try watching the fight without the disgraceful bias commentary and you'll realise that it wasn't a landslide and complete robbery.

Hopefully Fury has realised how hard he'll have to work on his conditioning to get to the standard he wants to be at. At least he showed that he had heart and could take some shots as well, though.

I think people are going a bit OTT and were influenced by sky's vile

mcdermott gets his rematch and another nice payday, fury was tought a valuable lesson and will hopefully take heed and maybe this pathetic rule of refs judging fights will be scrapped.

Totally agree, Slip. Beeston said to me in another thread that he turned the commentary off- I just chose not to listen. Hats off to Sky for another bias piece of commentary again. It was a close fight for sure, and McDermott did enough to win, but he was hardly dominating like SRR.
