Don't worry about it teeto, I'll find it later. btw, can you recommend me some of Monzons more impressive fights?

Sadly, I really haven't seen too much of the great middleweight champ.

Me meither to be really honest. I've seen this Benvenuti one i'm watching, then just what's on youtube. I've got some highlights i think on some old vids i bought years ago, but nothing extensive. There is some on youtube though.

Here's his last ever fight, if you watch this vid it just carries on to the next round and so on. He's not in his true prime here, but against maybe his best opponent and overcomes some adversity against a fine fighter who might do better than well in most eras.

Haha, no sorry. I've seen all that's on youtube though, which gives a you a decent assessment of the man as a fighter. I've read plenty about him over the years, and lately my interest just hit an all time high so i made this thread.

When you think about the likes of Tyson, Duran etc, the furious and vicious type fighters, it's becoming apparent to me that it might very well be Monzon who tops them all for true, well coldness in the ring (in a totally different way though).

Don't know what round i'm on now, lost count. But in the middle of the fight and Monzon is starting to batter Nino. When he throws the right hand it's like he wants it to go right through him.

Yeah i see what your saying. Whereas Duran thrived off
his emotional rage, Monzon was more of a black hole.

I really do envy people who were able to watch these great warriors in thier primes. My pops rubs it in every chance he gets. :verysad

He remembers all the big fights. FOTC, Duran-Buchanan, Benitez-Leonard etc.

I'm surprised when I mentioned Monzon to him though. He never knew he had killed his wife. kinda ruined his memory of him.

He did say that he felt there was something different about him. how he always looked...gloomy.

That's some great memories for your old man right there. We do have some of our own, but Duran-Buchanan is a special one we missed out on for example.

So you messed up your dad's memory of Monzon, shame on you man (only kidding).

 He knows mostly the Latin fighters. Loves Duran's style.
We always are rooting for opposites in fights though. Only time I
was right in my pick was the Mosley-Margarito fight. :D

He's actually leaning towards Mayweather in the upcoming fight.
    Very surprising.

Does your dad watch boxing too?

My dad's not an avid boxing fan, he used to always watch Tyson and the likes of Benn-Eubank with me when i was a kid. I'm the first fanatic in the family strangely. We all watch big fights together, but it's only because of my obsession really, haha.

Everyone in my house likes Tyson though!

    Are you picking Mayweather yourself?

It was the opposite for me. Pops was always gathering me and
my brother for the fights. Got into boxing that way.

My head says Mayweather, but my heart says JMM.
It's just that Mayweather holds almost every physical advantage
    (not sure about power..)

Still, I will be rooting for JMM on fight night. :bbb

So are you Latin American then? I suppose i'm going with Mayweather as well, for obvious reasons, but Marquez has that amazing indomitable will to win so who knows?

I don't really mind Floyd, he's a *****, but he doesn't hide it and try to convince you otherwise. The thing i can't stand is slimey two-faced characters (like Hatton!, haha), but i like Marquez also. I'm unbiased for this one so can just enjoy hopefully a great fight, it will be i reckon. Can't wait.

That I am. But i wouldn't say I'm biased towards them.
I just think it's time for JMM to shine, you know?
But if he does anymore **** drinking on 24/7 then idk.......
