Ah "he was out of shape", " he didn't train hard", "lacked motivation" anyone can say that and many fighters have but at the end of the day they're nothing but excuses.
It's not like Leonard was kicking his ass, Duran quit because he was feeling up to fighting. More humiliating yes, ut when both were 100% Duran prevailed in a better performance.
Yeah but the first match a classic in which the natural lightweight legend beat the natural WW legend so it was something and it was a real fight. The second fight was a disgrace from both parts for me.
I heard many excuses through out the years, ate too big of a breakfast and got cramps during the fight for example however it's probably because of the way SRL was making a fool out of him with his antics NO MAS!
:rofl Bull**** Duran was 100% I'm sick of that bull**** excuse. Duran is probably the most popular fighter on ESB he can do no wrong here. Some even have him ranked top 3 ATG which is ****ing ridiculous especially since he lost to all the big 4 and Benitez. SRL beat all of them and was more skilled than Duran but Durans ranked higher? GTFOH!:-(
That doesn't mean ****. SRL was a nice guy he said a lot of PC ****. Doesn't mean he actually believed it.:deal
I heard he had chronic diarreah and had to take a **** immediately. Either way the first fight was better and Duran has the better W
And there was recordings of Duran at 230 pounds :/. I can understand people not liking excuses because I don't either. But I can tell that everyone knew Duran was not in shape that fight :/.
Nah, Montreal was Roberto's night. Leonard did what he could do, but Duran was on that evening. No excuse for the rematch. Leonard had even said that getting Duran back right away was part of the plan. Roberto got full of himself and couldn't take the humiliation. Duran was knocked out mentally, which shows Leonards brilliance. They were both great fighters.
The first fight was the defining fight, and Duran won it. Leonard was the more skilled fighter of the two, but Duran's accomplishments were greater, by a decent measure.
Duran was on drugs and loved to party in those times, and didn't took training that serious. Beating SRL for the 1st time was (IMO) his biggest pay day, so after that he was just like 'blah'. SRL was just the better fighter in the 2nd fight, and Duran was dominated, and ridiculed in the whole fight.
