WOW...Apparently you did read my post very well....You mentioned "Taxpayer" money...WELL IF ITS A PRIVATELY funded prison...THEN IT DOESN'T USE TAX DOLLARS!!!

I would continue to poke holes in your post....But its hard to have a
BATTLE OF WITS...WHEN YOUR OPPONENT IS UN-ARMED!!!

The money comes from the taxpayer in the long run. Only a fool wouldn't know that. Or are you trying to tell me these guys pay their own way? And my point is valid. Those types of facilities have been removed from some prisons because of 'citizen' concern. That is why I asked how current your information was. But maybe you are blowing smoke out your ass about being a reporter?

    Negative issues, according to Strengthtech:

    1. Inmates may use size and strength gained from weightlifting as a weapon against guards, other inmates, or the public upon their release.

    2. Guards feel intimidated by massive inmates.

    3. People do not want their tax dollars being used to provide gymnasiums, and new weight rooms for felons

    4. Weightlifting equipment could be used as a weapon against guards or other inmates

    5. Weightlifting equipment could be used as a tool to escape (bars as battering rams)

    6. Inmates might be injured while lifting weights. These injuries cost taxpayers dollars.

    7. We should not have better weight rooms in prison than in our schools

    8. It is time to get tough on criminals

    9. Weightlifting equipment is expensive and expensive to maintain.

    10. Prison is not supposed to be a "nice place." We don't want them to want to come back again and again.

    11. Continuing to lift weights after release could lead to use of illegal steroids and association with those who sell them and other illegal drugs

I'm amused they used the term 'badder' same as I did.

"The public said they saw inmates going in bad and coming out bigger and badder."

You are so poorly mis-informed. Prisons in the USA is BIG-BUSINESS. gone are the days of Publicly ran correctional facilities.

Privately built, Privately owned, Privately operated and Privately contracted Correctional Officers and Guards. America is a CAPITALIST country...And People...(mostly "RIGHT-WINGED CONSERVATIVES AND THEIR FRIENDS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR)" wanted to capitalized and increased their profit margin and got "deeply" in the pockets of District Attorneys and made sure they were harder on crime...Example: Recent laws in Ohio, NY, NJ, PA and MI. were implemented that 1st time offenders of Marijuana possession get a minimum of 5 YEARS!!! THATS RIGHT 5 YEARS. And I not talking about an SUV full of POT...I mean 4 joints (recent case in East Cleveland).

Remember, they can't make money with NO PRISONERS. And no-one in the general public or Citizen has any say so on HOW A PRIVATELY FUNDED INSTITUTION is ran.

Now, Athletic leagues (Basketball, Football, Baseball and other sports) were implemented because of a study done by Fordham University in NY...stating:

"Because a large amount of inmates will eventually be released back into our society, they need activites that allow them be invovled in social activities, team-work and leadership...and what better and cheaper way for them to learn these chararistics than SPORTS."

And I noticed that you keep going on & on about Inamtes getting Big, Muscles, Steriods...blah blah blah.
Spoken like a typical Suburban teenager or A RIGHT-WINGED CONSERVATIVE in thinking that inmates in Prisons are all MUSCLE BOUND ATHLETIC DANGEROUS CRIMINALS...."With a PERMINATE TAN"...HINT HINT!!

When in fact...there is a large population of the NON-VIOLENT offenders that have simply gotten screwd by the SYSTEM (PUBLIC DEFENDERS).

Example: We (FOX Affiliate) did an awesome story about a man (alcoholic actually) that was out at local bar, and was totally TRASHED...but after several DUI's..decided to walk the 5 blocks home. Half-way through the walk, he decide to duck behind some bushes and take a leak...and PASSED OUT with his pants around his ankles. Well when someone saw him sleeping...they called the police, And because he was 30 yards from a Elementary School was charged with INDECENT EXPOSURE...Went to jail for a year and now he has to register SEX OFFENDER. When a "real" attorney would simply gotten him treatment for Alcohol Abuse.

And also in these prison..are people convicted of Tax Evasion, Auto Theft, Smuggling Illegals (I live on the West Coast), Un-paid Child Support, Hell, The Treasure of the School District (In the City where I live) served 19 months for stealing $120,000 over 4 years.

So despite what you see on "OZ", "The Shield", "The Wire" and all the other TV Shows that "YOUR PERCEPTION OF REALITY" is based on...Athletic Facilities are not in prison so inamtes can get stronger to commit more Crimes...WOW!!!

    POWERFUL IGNORANCE.
