That's good for JT. I hope he can recapture what we were able to see when he came out looking sharp and accurate again Rachman in the rematch. Being this lean and in shape, coupled with that kind of movement and accuracy will be a pretty difficult task for anyone of the HW's out there.
Me too. He looks very good. JT will never look like a body builder like some posters are expecting b/c JT is not a natural HW. He didn't look sculpted at 160. But you can tell he's got some lean muscle around the mid section and he's really slimmed down even in the face.
Exactly, Toney showed in the Rahman II fight that he still has the skills,he is just slower now. Now, at 10 pounds lighter and a harder training regime , he will be even better. I expect him to fight Quizeda (WBC no 4) who is managed by Goossen, this year. Then next year, it will be directly Vitali or another opponent like Tony Thompson (also managed by Goossen) or Maskaev. If toney keeps it up, he will get Vitali in that ring.
I don't believe that ... Toney only started looking good in the Rahman rematch after Hasim got the worse of their head clash.
Toney landed like one nice counter in the Rahaman II fight, and people act as though he was somehow about to go insane and start a hurricane releasing pain. At best the Rahman II fight was inconclusive. The only thing we learned from that fight was that Rahman has some punk-quitter-like tendencies. We learned nothing about Toney. The Oquendo fight showed us what Toney has left, no actually getting outboxed by the completley unskilled Nigerian Nightmare showed us what he has left...not much. I hope Toney does improve with the weight loss. I would like to see a title fight for him (if he's improved a bit) THe style contrast of a giant 6'8 type and a 5'9 fighter will be very interesting, even if the little fat dude stands no chance.
. Nah brah. You need to watch the fight again. Toney was teeing off on Roch...You only took the one counter where he actually ROCKED "Rachman". He was slipping and countering at will against Hasim especially in the 3 rd. BUt he was in complete control the entire 3 rounds. I don't think he beats the Klits, but he'll cause them many problems. James is OLD but his skills are still in tact. James at HW and over the last few years has been "patchy" in terms of his motivation and performances. THe way he looked in there with Fres and Donnie were not anything close to a motivated and prepared James TOney that is for sure
Not sure what fight u was watching in the Rahman tony 2??:huh Tony was whoopin that A$$ and your blind if you couldn't see it..If JT is in shape he is a force to be dealt with...HE HAS BETTER BOXING SKILLZ THAN ANYONE IN THE HW DIVISION TODAY..HES JUST FAT AND SLOW
So far Toney has had a Decision win that briefly made him a World Heavyweight titlist and a tko win over Raahman taken away from him.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. People go on like Rahman TOney 2 was some sort of master class exhibit by Toney. The fight was like 3 rounds! ... THREE ROUNDS!... One of which Toney clearly lost, the second was close, and the third where he won (after a nasty butt)... hardly a conclusive "ass whoopin"
All I know is JT whooped on Rahman in the 2nd fight till it was stopped...He was countering with some good pop on his punches!
