imo he's got the skills....can he progress who knows. I do have my reserves about his choice of trainer. He had a poor first fight but has learned from that and stopped his next two. He has something to work with that's for sure and he is saying right things. He prepares for fights professionally and also has been having good sparring. I give him thumbs up as a good British Prospect...i do worry about his punches at times...he can get a lil reckless but he has skills there's no doubting that.
Yep... I was just looking at some DeGale footage. He looks a little ******ed. Honestly, I have better southpaw mechanics, and I'm a ****ing conventional. He's not as bad as some of the guys in the sport, but I wouldn't put him too far off from a Ponce De Leon or someone like that. Sorta looks like a girl wildly swinging at times..
I wonder if he would consider moving to Vegas to be under the Mayweather influence ... I seen in an interview he had, and he really admires Mayweather
THATS a distance of chinese kiss an tells for so many to know who hes banged lol and mayweather wud easily b able to tell da guys got black in him he looks black jus light skinned but blatent black jus mixrace innit yeh degales good ino him personally an boxed in many domestic tournaments together as juniors youths aswel as seniors. an he does slap with his punches sumtyms if not quite abit but does have good variation ppl said calzaghe slapped bt look where that got him? and hasa very good uppercut jus needs t develop mre power sitting dwn on shots more he has good speed good timing an range. dunno bout chin as he was dropped heavy couple times as an am but always got up to win funnily enuf on points still.
On his pro debut he stunk the place out,,very amateurish cuffing and slapping style,,and was booed by an unimpressed crowd. I think that really hurt him and in his next 2 fights hes knuckled down showed alot of improvement (allbeit against dead bodies but thats to be expected in you're 2nd and 3rd fights)both ended in early stoppages. He looked to be setting himself alot better and really digging his shots in and throwing hurtful punches aswell as just point scoring ones. It's way to early to tell but he has talent, good speed, skill level and developing power.... He obviously has the pedigree as an olympic gold medalist,, I doubt theres too many of them that have turned out to be crap! But as I say only time will tell as he steps up his level of competition wether he's gonna be a world level operator but IMO the early signs are good :good Ps.. yes he is a bit of a twat but i'm trying to look past that
According to his interview on Soccer AM this morning they didn't spar. DeGale is probably SMW in build so he's too large for Mayweather (DeGale's words). He observed and trained with him though and says he learnt alot. **** or not I've seen his last couple of fights and I think he potentially has the makings of a solid pro who might nick a title somewhere down the line but isn't likely to set the world alight. It's early days though and he's not been tested yet.
Well you don't win a Gold medal without being pretty good, but time will tell if he makes it in the pros. Certainly training in the USA is the right way to go early doors. It's a shame it took Amir so long to work out that most British trainers are crap and nothing more than towel wavers. BTW, fellow Olympians,Frankie Gavin and Billy Jo Saunders have looked even more impressive than DeGale in their first few pro bouts
He's not a legit switch hitter. Gale is too amateurish for my liking. I signed while the iron was hot but i dont see him making waves on the professional scene. Plus he's a knob.
This isnt the 1960's. Olympic boxing is incredibly diluted now. You only have to look at Audley's glowing success hence he's entrance into prize fighter. Degale is no diffrent. I dont see anything in the boy that makes me thing he can be a world beater. You make a fighter wealthy quickly and he looses the hunger. Deglae has no hunger. He just has a whole lot of mouth.
Degale has a unique style. At times when he fights it seems as if he's taking the ****, does not look a natural at all. Saying that his last fight was impressive and funny. Probably the highest level he will be successful at will be European, maybe a lucky world title, he is with Warren after all. Sayin all this he seems like a proper nice fella
